The Department of Education, Malda College started its journey in the year of 2013 with the initiation of education as a pass subject in B.A. stream with two faculty members and near about 1200 students. In the year of 2015 Department of Education started it's Honours course with intake capacity of 30 seats. This Department achieved First Position award in inter Department model exhibition competition in the year 2018 and 3rd Position award in 2019 in model exhibition competition among different colleges, higher secondary schools of Malda districts and different departments of Malda College in the occasion of Platinum Jubilee celebration of Malda College.
