Diwali Celebration in School (shorter Version)

On the occasion of Diwali, the festival of colorful lights, a special assembly was conducted in the school auditorium on Oct. xx, 20xx. The sweet fragrance of marigold garlands and sparkling diyas welcomed all to the auditorium.
The celebration commenced with a prayer to the Almighty. The attraction of the programme was a thought provoking skit highlighting the victory of good over evil. Then came the moment the students were eagerly waiting for. Beep! Beep! It was a donation van. Amidst the cheers of ‘Happy Diwali!’, the excited students rushed towards the van, with different items for donation almost falling out of their tiny hands. This annual ritual helps in sensitizing students towards the poor and needy.
The celebration concluded with the blessings of the Principal, Dr. Supriya Mahajan who encouraged the students to observe a ‘Green & Clean’ Diwali.

Diwali Celebration in School (Lengthy Version- first draft)

For children Diwali is all about new clothes, sweets, bright lights, crackers and a lot of fun. The special assembly conducted at school on October xx, 20xx on this occasion further enhanced the festive spirit of everyone. The sweet fragrance of marigold garlands and sparkling diyas welcomed all to the auditorium decorated with beautiful lights in vivid colors. And no one could miss the vibrant peacock rangoli at the entrance!
The celebration commenced with a prayer to the Almighty for prosperity and well-being of all. The attraction of the celebration was a thought provoking skit presented by the junior students highlighting the victory of good over evil, knowledge over ignorance and hope over despair.
Then came the moment the students were eagerly waiting for. Beep! Beep! It was a donation van, decorated with balloons and flowers. Amidst the cheers of ‘Happy Diwali!’, the excited students rushed towards the van, with different items almost falling out of their tiny hands to donate them. This annual ritual helps in sensitizing students towards the poor and needy. The excitement of the students became manifold when they received candles as Diwali gift from the Principal and teachers of the school with a message to light up their surroundings and keep darkness away.
The assembly concluded with the message of the Principal of the school, Dr. Supriya Mahajan, who blessed the students on this occasion and encouraged them to observe a ‘Green & Clean’ Diwali.
