Practice Question
Based on the Sample Question Paper of CBSE-2022-23
Surbhi, a daughter of doctor parents aspires to make a career in theater. She is very creative and has won many prizes in co-curricular activities. Academically also, she is brilliant and has never missed an A1 in any exam despite her interests in other fields. Her exposure to the world of performing arts is limited to school and city. She has always shied away from staying away from home and traveling.
As a student of class tenth, she has to decide a stream for herself. Most of her friends have decided in favor of medical or non-medical. She is confused.
Write a paragraph in about 100-120 words, analyzing her SWOT notes to support your stand on what would be the right decision for her.
In Favor of medical stream
The given information reveals the options for Surbhi to consider before opting for any stream. Her strong academics and keen focus together with the experienced parents in the medical field make medical stream as the right choice for her. Whereas, she would be able to satisfy her creativity if she chooses theater. It would be a new learning experience and a chance to prove herself. However, her lack of confidence and introvert nature which doesn’t let her stay away from home would further prevent her from gaining exposure in this field. Prevalence of nepotism along with a high risk of failure and limited colleges offering theater as a subject, certainly do not go in favor of Surbhi picking up theater as a career choice. The successful parents of Surbhi would serve as a great example & support for her to excel in this stream. Thus, it is highly recommended that Surbhi should take medical stream as a career choice.
In Favor of theatre as a career choice
The given information presents the attributes that would enable Surbhi to decide a right career path for herself. Her creativity backed with strong academics and the will to prove herself would open the doors of new learning experiences. As a student of theater, she would explore new places and meet people which would enhance her confidence and she would no longer be an introvert. It is not difficult to overcome the threats of limited exposure, nepotism, high risk and lack of set examples with hard work and focus. She would then herself be an example for other students who want to pursue this field but don’t because of the peer pressure and lack of successful instances in front of them. Thus, not settling for the already planned platter, but going for what she aspires to be would be the best choice for her.
