JA BizTown®
JA BizTown combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town. This popular learning experience allows elementary school students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. Students are able to connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world.
Education level: Elementary school; Middle school (grades 4-6)
The Mobile Simulation
JA of Eastern Iowa have mobilized the JA BizTown® simulation, meaning that when it comes time for your students to visit JA BizTown, they can do so right on site at school! There are 20 unique storefronts for students to run and shop at during the simulation.
The simulation works with groups of 60-120 students and lasts around 4 hours. During this time students will act as town citizens with specific job roles in their storefronts. Every student will have the opportunity to shop at other storefronts with their BizBucks earned from working, vote on important town matters, and help their businesses to thrive.
Can't facilitate 'JA BizTown Mobile' on-site? Wanting an additional experience to enhance the classroom curriculum and in-person simulation? JA BizTown Adventures is a virtual simulation with two pathways - one where students can explore the roles of CEO, CFO, marketing director, sales manager and consumer. Or, students can work to solve a community problem through three different perspectives: a private citizen, a business owner, and a government official.
