I am from San Antonio, but have traveled the world since I was sixteen, living in three different countries, including Austria, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom. I have also traveled throughout the United States and visited many areas of Europe, South America, the Middle East, North Africa and Asia. These experiences have magnified the value of diversity, helping me to appreciate the contributions of other cultures in all aspects, including education.
I have a B.A. from the University of Texas in Middle Eastern Studies and a Masters of Education from Texas State University. The 2025-2026 school year will be my 19th teaching. Currently I am a Talented and Gifted Specialist working with elementary math students at Sommer Elementary.
I am a proud union member! We are a merged Local so we have extra support from both state organizations, as well as the national affiliates. We are stronger together!
Understanding how to support all employees better is critical to providing the best education for all our students. Please join us in Education Round Rock and help our district and public education be the best they can be!
Hi there! I am Sarah. I have been teaching for 18 years, 9 here in Round Rock ISD, and 9 in Harlingen, TX - my hometown. I am currently teaching 4th grade at Kathy Caraway Elementary but was previously at Union Hill and Berkman. I LOVE public education. My parents instilled the importance and value of education for everyone, and that is why I advocate so fiercely for staff and students!
I am a spouse to my husband who volunteers with EdRR often (totally all by choice 😆), mom of two kids - my son is getting ready to graduate from Colorado State University (Go Rams!), and my daughter is going into 7th grade at Hopewell MS (Go Hornets!), and also dog owner. I also foster for the Wilco Animal Shelter. In all my spare time - LOL! - I love to read, go to concerts, and spend time with family and friends.
I got involved with EdRR out of a necessity to communicate with our district and advocate on behalf of our members and all of our RRISD Staff. We are making changes!
I’ve been in education for 21 years, spending most of that time as a dual language classroom teacher and am currently a librarian at C.D. Fulkes MS. I’m originally from La Feria in the Rio Grande Valley and live in Round Rock with my husband. We don’t have children yet, but we’re hoping to grow our family soon.
I’ve been involved with Education Round Rock since I was hired in RRISD in 2016 and have also participated in our sister unions in other districts. I currently serve as Treasurer of Education Round Rock and Secretary of TSTA Region 10. I believe in the power of collective advocacy and am proud to work alongside educators who are committed to supporting our staff and strengthening public education.
Bio coming soon.
