Our Winston-Salem EfM group welcomes participants in the same seminar from both tracks: EfM Classic and EfM Wide Angle. You choose the track that fits your needs, and everyone learns together. There is no prerequisite for either track.
Program materials are delivered to participants online in Pathwright, a Learning Management System. Pathwright is our online “home base” for EfM—it’s where you’ll find your readings, reflection prompts, and weekly structure, all organized in a simple, step-by-step format. Your mentors will be available to help you learn to use Pathwright.
Each seminar year follows a designated theme, also referred to as a "Path" because materials are delivered in Pathwright. The 2025-2026 theme was The Journey with God. EfM Path: Following Jesus launches July 15, 2026.
EfM:Classic is the original EfM program - a four-year journey through the breadth of the Christian tradition. The program underwent a full revision in 2025. Each year builds on the last, and participants enroll in one year at a time.
Year 1: The Hebrew Bible Scripture, stories, and the formation of God's covenant people
Year 2: The New Testament The life of Jesus, the early church, and the spread of Christianity
Year 3: Church History 2,000 years of Christian tradition, from the early church to the present day
Year 4: Theology and Ethics Christian theology, ethics, and how faith shapes engagement with the world
Scroll down to see the 2025-2026 readings. Many of these will stay the same for 2026-2027.
EfM: Wide Angle is a newer one-year EfM track that offers a narrative introduction to all four years of the Classic curriculum. It is perfect for newcomers, returnees, or anyone who wants a broad overview of the Christian tradition in a single year. There is no prerequisite and you can take Wide Angle at any point in your EfM journey. Participating in the Wide Angle year does not meet any requirements for the EfM:Classic program.

Spiritual Sojourners accompany the EfM Community worldwide through essays based on the movement of Theological Reflection related to the path’s theme.
Bishop Deon Johnson’s essays as the Spiritual Sojourner for EfM Path 26–27: Following Jesus presents discipleship as a life shaped by love, community, and a commitment to justice. His compelling texts emphasize that following Jesus begins with curiosity and grows through vocation and is sustained through community, worship, and shared practices. It moves beyond personal faith into active participation in God’s work of liberation, calling believers to embody love, confront injustice, and become sources of hope, healing, and transformation in the world.
EfM Path: Following Jesus launches July 15, 2026.
