Evangelos Paspaliaris

Postdoctoral Researcher

INAF - Arcetri Astrophysical Observatory

Thanks for visiting my webpage! Here you can find information about my research and activities.

I am a Postdoctral Researcher at the INAF - Arcetri Astrophysical Observatory, in Florence, Italy. I investigate the properties of the interstellar medium, the dust attenuation and the process of star formation in local galaxies, using a wide range of multi-wavelength observations.

I obtained my PhD in Astrophysics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki having worked at the Institute of Astronomy, Astrophysics and Remote Sensing (IAASARS) at the National Observatory of Athens.

The title of my PhD dissertation is "Stellar populations and the properties of the ISM in non-typical local galaxies".

Using multi-wavelength photometry and the SED fitting code CIGALE, I modelled the SEDs of galaxies of different types. In this way I derived their physical properties and studied the role of the different stellar populations in the dust heating. Moreover, I investigated how the presence of an AGN can affect the aforementioned characteristics.
