Edmonton Scottish Society Tartan

Edmonton Scottish Society Tartan

On the 16th of April 2021 the Edmonton Scottish Society registered our Tartan with the Scottish Register of Tartans

Designed by Valeta Roach of Forever Tartan the Edmonton Scottish Society's Tartan is representative of our history and location.

Tartan Design - Colours and Symbolism

The tartan design created incorporates colours of both recognised Scottish flags, silver of a pewter Quaich, charcoal tweed representing Scotland's world renowned original homespun fabric and the colour of three very symbolic fl ower s. The pink/purple in the tartan represents the colour of Scottish heather, thistle flowers - native to Alberta and Scotland, and the colour of the Alberta Wild Rose.

Two tartans have been designed, a standard pattern - dark like a hunting tartan, and a dress (or Arisaid) pattern with a white background. Colour and symbolism remains the same for both with a switch of black to white for the dress version of the tartan.
