Micro Credit with zero defaults

We launched MICRO CREDIT Programme, granting loans to the mothers in the rural areas which boost up the income level of the families, eight years ego. Average outstanding loans increased from 15.18 lakh INR to 59.19 lakh INR, an increase of 274 per cent during these years. We issued loans of 155.63 lakh INR during 2018-19 to 1600 women borrowers. Some women borrowers received more than one loans in calendar year. This way total number of loans issued was 2075 in 2018-19. Rapid progress in micro credit has now turned into an empowerment movement among women across Sundarbans.. We have distributed loan over 27 villages. Loans have been utilised for setting up household level micro enterprises like paddy husking, embroidery, tailoring and handicrafts work.

Our micro credit programme has been experiencing zero defaults since inception. This has been possible because of our relationship with borrowers, apart from monitoring and supervision of loan utilisation. Loan size has been increased to 10000 INR per women borrowers since April 2019.

Earning from Micro credit is fully utilised to meet a part of operational cost of schools and and other social activities.
