Gavin Mitsdarfer attending the NEA AEC in Portland, Oregon. They not only represented PennWest Edinboro, but they also represented Student PSEA members from across the state as a delegate. They ran a campaign to be elected as one of two NEA AE Directors for a 1-year term. Despite being the runner-up, they ran an amazing campaign built on the promise of making good change in a country that needs it. They attended breakout sessions and made a visit to the NEA Retired meeting where they were awarded with the NEA Retired Jack Kinnaman Scholarship.

PennWest Edinboro Student PSEA invited EA members from both the Union City Education Association (Mrs. Elizabeth Hayes, Chemistry; Mr. Randal Hurlburt, English Language Arts) and the Fort LeBoeuf Education Association (Mrs. Kelly Clark, Special Educator and Transition Coordinator) and an employee at the Day School at The Children's Institute (Mrs. Tracy Fox, Speech Language Pathologist). They shared their stories in the classroom, favorite memories while working with students, and tidbits of advice about burnout and finding joy for our future educators.

Dr. Christopher Clayton visited PennWest Edinboro and spoke to our members abotu the correlation and causation betwwen poverty and student achivement in schools. He explained the impact of school budget cuts and their harm to student test scores all across the Commonwealth. He also gave us advice to work within and beyond our classroom to help close those gaps often created by poverty.
