Members Madison Miller, Northwestern Region Delegate, and Gavin Mitsdarfer, Legislative Committee, joined hundreds of PSEA members from across the state at the May 2025 House of Delegates in Pittsburgh, PA.
July 1-7, 2025 - Portland, OR
As a state delegate, member Gavin Mitsdarfer attended the NEA Representaive Assembly in Portland, Oregon. Gavin represented PennWest Edinboro, Student PSEA, and PSEA during debates on budget, new business items, and national elections. Gavin was selected as one of four of the thousands of members in attendance to share the events of the breakout session "Countering Authoritarian Overreach." During the RA, Gavin co-chaired the Aspiring Educators Caucus meeting and was elected as the Aspiring Educators Caucus Lead Director.
August 24, 2025 - Edinboro, PA
Chapter leaders held a table at the August Club Rush event to promote the organization to incoming education students at PennWest Edinboro.
October 11, 2025 - Edinboro, PA
PennWest Edinboro Student PSEA members took the call of mythical creatures in the only way educators would, Dr. Suess. Joined by the Cat in the Hat and while holding a sign with a rhyme, members walked in the Edinboro Homecoming parade.

October 19-21, 2025 - Kutztown, PA
As a selected student member representing PennWest, Gavin Mitsdarfer traveled to Kutztown University to attend the PASSHE UPrepared Summit, which was aimed as a learning experience to discuss the educator shortage in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Gavin took part in the Student Fishbowl, which had students discuss their experiences as education students.
October 23-26, 2025 - Washington, DC
As one of nine members appointed across the country, PennWest Edinboro Student PSEA member, Gavin Mitsdarfer, joined aspiring educators in Washington, DC, to start the work of the 2026 NEA Aspiring Educators Conference, received team leadership training, and went through the Freedom Fighters training about the importance of educators adn activists in the current political climate.
January 20, 2026 - Edinboro, PA
Incoming chapter leaders, Ian Hall, Kylie Peters, and Morgan Beer, and state leader Gavin Mitsdarfer attended the Northwestern Region Local Leadership Forum at the Northwestern Region PSEA Office. They learned about contract language deaing with furloughs, expressed issues facing their members, and met other leaders in the region.

Members attended the PennWest Edinboro Clubs and Organizations Award Ceremony where our chapter was nominated for multiple awards and two members, Gavin Mitsdarfer and Kylie Peters, won in two categories.

March 2, 2026 - Edinboro, PA
As a part of a join effort across Pennsylvania Western University, PennWest Edinboro Student PSEA hosted 93 students and 12 teachers/administrators from across Erie and Crawford counties for a day of learning about the education profession. Students attended professional development sessions about advocacy, literacy, and artificial intelligence lead by our leaders and state of the art faculty in the morning and then had the opportunity to learn about our Early Childhood, Middle & Secondary, and Special Education programs on our campus. While on campus, students got to eat lunch in the dining hall, see a dorm room, and hear from our student leaders about life on campus. Teacher leaders also had the opportunity to attend sessions about self-care and the Educators Rising Program.
