My mother put me on the path, and her mother put her on the path.
My bloodlines are Filipinio, German, and Welsh, so I have access to the shamanistic island practices (similar to traditional rootwork), tracing of the Norse Pantheons that would have migrated south on the way to the Celic Isles, and the old Druidic Practices of the Welsh.
I was raised to be Of Service to others to stand in that which is good, that which is love, that which protects and nurtures and protects life, growth, and healing.
While I respect all practices, and believe that everyone has a part to play in this era of Age of Pisces ending, and Age of Aquarius beginning, there are certain practices that I refrain from dabbling in. As much as possible, I try to avoid that which may have had to do with Crowley, and the Order of the Golden Dawn (namely "post-Crowley" influence).
I collect realtime data using Pattern Recognition Sensitivity, filtered through astrology, contemporary & historic cultural shifts, socio-political responses, vetted through the objective process of Scientific Method, referenced through Traditional Esoteric Practices, with Contemporary ideation & philosophies including the intersection of the sciences, like Quantum Theory.
I operate from a tenet that our Primary Job is to Heal Ourselves, and that my primary purpose (in doing The Work I do, and beyond our collective Primary Job of healing ourselves/myself) is to put myself in the path of being Of Service to others, in recognition that what tools I have access to are graced upon me SO that I may be, and continue to be Of Service to others as they become the most powerful versions of themselves that they can possibly be.
The above was the "short answer." For Transparency and Integrity of Practice, I offer MUCH MORE in-depth granularity in the sections below.
Fair warning: There will be A LOT of reading below, but again, this is a matter of Transparency, and me being accountable to Integrity in a community where there is no regulatory practices -a fact that too many practitioners take advantage of, in utilizing whatever clever & charming combination of buzzwords that will attract clients.
More about my Legacy, Ancestral Foci
(tap to expand)
"REGARDING LEGACY"
Typically, when people ask about "Legacy," they're basically asking "who taught you how to do magic?"
Most people get funneled into a Modality of Mystic Practice (Thelema, OTO, Order of The Golden Dawn, etc) in the same way many Abrahamic Folk (Followers of more "mainstream" Organized Religions) just sorta get funneled into the first church that they vibe with.
Others might spend thousands of dollars to train with South American Shamans, which is cool because those indigenous shamans are getting reparation money for keeping the practices alive, BUUUUUTTTTTT...
These also TEND to be people, who in typical colonizer fashion, have ignored any research into their own Ancestral Bloodlines, instead adopting and/or seeking "certification" in a non-bloodline indigenous practice as their own, often for exotic credibility.
MY PERSONAL LEGACY
My mother (German, Welsh, Baptized Pentecostal) started teaching me the basics of spiritual hygiene, including core "do's & dont's" around metaphsyical practices, bit by bit, around 10 years old, and to be honesrt, she still imparts knowledge that she has either more recently looked into, or remembered that she never taught me in prior years. Clients who have done sessions with me have heard SO MANY references to many of those core principles mom taught me, chief among them being "Never use magic for shit you can do on your own."
I would come to find out that my mother was even younger than I was when my grandmother started teaching HER practices that I would, later in my journey identify as associated with Welsh Druidry, or at the very least the Nature Magic aspect of "Divine Magic" -a category I often use as a kind of not-exactly-technical "umbrella term" referring to origins anchored in the documented records of ancient practitioners such as Heinrich CorneliusAgrippa (1486-1535), Paracelsus (1493-1541), Francis Barrett (1770-1802), Eliphas Levi (1810-1875) and in more contemporary, and exploratory methods, Manly P. Hall (1901-1990), but most notably associated with associations of Christian Hermetic Alchemy, Nature Magic, Some Rosicrucianism (which seems to have had an influence on the works of Carl Jung), etc.
I was baptized Catholic, and later in life, my mother would disclose to me that since she was not an official member of the Catholic Church, she and my Godparents worked with someone in the clergy to effectively "sneak me in" outside of regular hours to get Baptized.
I was 9 months old when a woman (whose name my mother cannot remember) read my Natal Chart for my mom's optics. Somewhere in my 20's I actually lost that copy between moves, and I regret that I didn't hold onto it more carefully, even if only as a part of my own personal history / journey.
In early childhood, I attended an Independent Baptist Church for a time, as a child (facilitated by a neighbor, not my parents) until my questions became met with frustration and a general attitude of "don't know / just Have Faith" -which would later in life register as not a sound practice. While I cannot remember the specific questions, I feel like what I had asked was simple enough that a Spiritual Practitioner who was dedicated to self-reflection and relation to the tenets of their practice should have been able to give me more thoughtful responses, if not answers. At this point, I asked if I "had to go" to Sunday School, and Church, and was told (by my parents) that if I no longer wanted to go, I didn't have to.
Often my mother would consult my Auntie Ollie, and Auntie Vola for (what I would later recognize) as Tarot, Rootwork, Prayer associated with Mystic Catholicism, possibly(?) Petitioning of Saints (I know, there's a technical rift, but mom's recollection of these SPECIFIC Works these aunties did is a bit fuzzy, even with my prompting questions). We were in relation with these Aunties (not blood relatives) at least until I left home around 17-18.
Around 12 years old I was enrolled in Kajukenbo (a form of Kenpo Kung Fu), Gaylord Method, under (at that time Dai-Si-Hing, then Sifu, now Grand Master) Ron Esteller. I was told that was the style my (late) Uncle Glenn Abrescy Sr. practiced before he got into a rather public argument with Professor Gaylord, and swore never to set foot on a mat again, unless it was his own style, incorporated with the Escrima Techinques that were passed down to him from someone who approached our family to pass down his style (to my late uncle), not having children of their own. Associated with my Martial Arts.
I mention my introduction to Martial Arts in that being exposed to this learning, I came across the works of Miyamoto Musashi ("Go Rin No Sho // A Book Of Five Rings") which in turn led me to Sun Tzu's "Art of War," both books of classic strategy that I still refer to in terms of esoteric practice to this day. Later, I would incorporate The Hagakure (Yamamoto Tseunetomo), and then even later, once I had been introduced to Aikido, "The Art of Peace" by O'Sensei, Morihei Ueshiba -again, these two being books that I refer to relation to my own esoteric practice.
When I was about 13, mom stopped making me wait in the car when she picked up supplies or consulted practitioners (often for Candle Magic, typically on location, never at home) at the Curio Shops. One of which, Phoenix Candle Shop (4101 Foothill Blvd) still stands relatively the same as back then, though the woman who used to do mom's candles (Miriam) passed away a number of years ago, but who's grandchild still works at the shop to this day, with Nicole who runs the shop.
My cousin Kimi (who remains an active practitioner to this day) was the first person to read Tarot for me, which at the time felt more of an articulation in keeping me aligned with my own spiritual journey.
WIP; raw notes below, but through April-May 2026 will be continuing to write them in a "more readable, less outline" form. For now, again, for transparency and depth of articulation, I will leave the raw notes visible as I continue to update. Such is the practice, such is the journey.
- ...and then my ANCESTRAL Bloodlines
- Half Filipino, Half German & Welsh
- Which means that as a core base for my practice,
- Filipino side registers in modern times as islander rootwork WITH INFLUENCES OF:
- Hinduism
- Islamic Spirituality
- Catholicism
- And later, Buddhism
- As far as I can tell, the Welsh were the like the DRUIDS of Druids in both the Celtic Corridor and Gaulish regions
- Germanic bloodline :
- Is pretty complex, and is a journey ALL ON IT'S OWN,
- AS THERE ARE ELEMENTS OF :
- Ancient Germanic Paganism / Heathenism ;
- Nordic influence from nomadic / migratory peoples spreading out from Scandinavia
- Ashkenazi Kabbalism
- Early German Catholic Mysticism ( 11th - 15th Century)
- Which is the first of three bloodlines that indicate that Divine Magic would make sense :
- From the Welsh Bloodline, there was a blending of Abrahamic influence near the end of the Druidic Era
- A SECOND INDICATOR THAT DIVINE MAGIC WOULD BE A FOCUS FOR ME
- Filipino Catholicism wasn't a full conversion; it seems that as a survival response to colonization a lot of the old pagan ways were woven in, leaning harder into those fringes of Catholic Mysticism ;
- BEING THE THIRD INDICATOR DRIVING MY FOCUS TO DIVINE MAGIC
-------------------
- Now...BEACUSE I'VE GOT SUCH A WILD RANGE OF 'INGREDIENTS" TO WORK WITH, PART OF THE "BROTH" I USE TO "BLEND THOSE FLAVORS TOGETHER" IS A COMBINATION OF:
-------------------
- Chaos Magic Theory (first only Philosophy & Ideation, then more recently, the actual modalities
- The three aspects of Divine Magic;
- Herbs & Stones (some of my earliest learning, being the first three books dealing with the esoteric covering the basics of crystals, mystic correspondences of herbs, and candle magic)
- Celestial Magic (namely planetary influences, but currently studying magic squares, AS A PART OF)
- The "Ceremonial" Side of Divine Magic (namely the heavy use of Sacred Names and Angelic Petition)
- The intersection of Traditional Mysticism with the obvious correlation to Quantum Mechanics
- Especially in the tradition of Alchemy being so STRONGLY ROOTED in Nature Magic, which of course is a core element to nearly EVERY pagan practice, no matter what indigenous bloodlines you come from, but especially from the oldest roots of my own Ancestral Bloodlines AS WELL as Familial Teachings
- The Spiral Path,
- initiated into this modality by my friend and colleague Aster, known also as Good Clay Human
- Which is, to oversimply, honoring the more true nature of time, actively working against it's colonization, to both observe and honor it's more "feral" nature
- Santa Muerte Veneration,
- Of which I am fairly new to, and was ONLY drawn to that by way of what could have only been Ancestral Networking, of MY Ancestors telling someone ELSE'S Ancestors to tell them to tell me to start looking into it
- And also both Usui Reiki,
- as well as Saint Germaine's Violet Flame practices
- initiated into by Shimu Marion Oldenhage, who is both a Reiki Practitioner and a Medium,
- Who encouraged me to weave & blend my Reiki Practices into all the other existing modalities I practice and study
---------------------------------
- FINALLY :
--------------------------------
- Because of the range between my upbringing, being responsible to decolonization, my own ancestral studies, and such varied influences of study that needed to be "brought together"
- AND growing up in California's Bay Area, which is A Melting Pot within a Melting Pot,
- AND being alive at a time (and place) where responsible cultural blending is a norm...
