The Asia Scotland Institute (ASI) is a non-profit organisation which exists to promote a greater understanding of Asia through the sharing of knowledge. Young China Watchers

YCW is a community of China-focused young professionals with chapters all around the world. Through regular roundtables and talks with senior figures in the China academic, policy and business communities, it provides a chance for individuals to interact and discuss the most pressing issues emerging from China today. The London chapter also runs a mentoring programme which pairs students and recent graduates with mentors in China-related fields. The Royal Society for Asian Affairs

Chopsticks Club

Chopsticks Club is the largest independent China-UK professionals’ membership network. It promotes a wider understanding of China and the need for Mandarin language learning as a channel for deeper communication with the Chinese people. Lau China Institute

The Lau China Institute is a global centre for the research, study and understanding of contemporary China at King's College London. The SOAS China Institute

The SOAS China Institute (SCI) is a world leading centre for China expertise. SOAS is home to the largest community of Chinese Studies scholars in Europe. Chatham House

The Royal Institute of International Affairs i.e. Chatham House is a think tank with the stated mission of "help[ing] governments and societies build a sustainably secure, prosperous, and just world." Chatham House has a wealth of publications and events discussing geopolitics and international policy. Chatham House also runs an internship programme. European Guanxi

Trivium China is an analysis firm that specialises in monitoring Chinese government policy, with offices in Beijing, Shanghai and DC. Beijing Energy Network

GLG specialises in professional services, connecting decision-makers at global corporations, investment firms, and non-profits with industry experts to help them solve business challenges in industries such as consulting, healthcare, legal and both public and private finance. Language Requirements: Varies by role. Our alumni started in an English-only role, yet ended up using Chinese weekly as the only Chinese-speaker on the team. Usage has now shifted to every few months based on client needs after additional native speakers joined the team. The language requirements are quite flexible and our alumni has using their A-level German and GCSE Spanish occasionally as well.

Ambassador Year in China (AYC)

Ambassador Year in China (AYC) is an employment opportunity in cultural exchange for university graduates to spend a year (or two consecutive academic semesters) exploring, learning, teaching, and making a difference at placement schools across China by becoming Assistant English Language Teacher. Wild China

Wild China is a Chinese travel company operating across Corporate, Leisure and Education services.

• WildChina Corporate organises signature events, conferences and teambuilding for businesses

• WildChina Leisure organises high end travel (think champagne and helicopters on the Great Wall) and is also partnered with Wild Mongolia and Wild Taiwan

• WildChina Education provides residential trips in China for international and bilingual schools in China, as well as inbound tours for foreign schools. Language Requirements: Chinese is usually used with Local Partners, Chinglish is used in the office and English is usually used with clients. The Leisure department also now has a South America-focused Spanish speaking department

Language Requirements: No Chinese language requirements but Chinese is definitely a bonus.  Our alumni regularly used Chinese to communicate with the local Chinese teachers and managers. They also used Chinese to communicate with students, especially when teaching more complex topics or for students who were struggling to understand certain concepts.
