Check out the Edgewood Volunteer Report for the current opportunities for cleared & uncleared volunteers. Remember, you can volunteer for one activity before needing clearances approved! Please let us know if you are interested in being cleared to volunteer this year or next year. What will be your first; Library Help? Classroom Parent?
Who needs to be cleared?
Any volunteer who will be working with students more than once needs to be cleared.
If you only are doing one event you are exempt.
However, If you plan to do any further volunteering, an application needs to be submitted for approval.
Here’s some examples: Cafe Edgewood does not need volunteers to be cleared as you are interacting with parents coming in the building for the event.
Scholastic Book Fair does need cleared volunteers as you are working primarily with students, mostly without staff oversight. Setting up for book fair, does not
Classroom assistants do need cleared
Drama Club parents who will be back stage should be cleared as there is limited supervision. Drama Club parents building sets don’t necessarily need it.
