Computer aided design (CAD) is used in a range of ways from designing a product that can be laser cut or 3D printed, using it as a medium to develop designs and share them with clients, to producing designs that may be used in magazines, social media and websites.
The CAD software you use depends on what you want to use it for.
A graphic designer may focus more on using Photoshop and Illustrator.
For 3D printing Tinkercad or Fusion 360 might be used.
For laser cutting, Techsoft 2D Design, Illustrator, Google SketchUp or Fusion 360 might be used.
