For some reason the magazine text was used for this title and it is therefore shorter than the US edition, with a different ending. Burroughs wrote to Methuen objecting to this and severed his links with them so the next Tarzan book was published by Cassell. It was 1938 before Methuen picked up three further Tarzan books after John Lane withdrew.
