Welcome to the monthly prompts page! Here you will find art/writing prompts to jog your creativity, if you wish to partake of them. One new prompt is provided each month. You will receive a Figment for each prompt you complete, which can be used for purchasing various rewards.

Prompt rewards are based on how many prompts you complete. Each prompt fill will give one Figment ⬥, which acts as currency for the Figment Store. Prompt submissions, earned figments, and spending is tracked in a spreadsheet; you do not have to keep track of it on your own and you can see your balance here. It can also be seen at the bottom of this page.

Inspiration ✧, which is earned by completing NPC prompts, can be used to replace Figments. A custom will require at least one Inspiration; e.g. 9 Figments and 1 Inspiration. Additionally, Inspiration can be used to "stack" customs, Notions, and MYOs for a special trait Edeia. See here for details.

Previous Prompts

You may complete prompts of the same month from previous years. Previous prompts may be completed over the course of the entire month plus the extra days of the current prompt.

NPC Prompts

NPC prompts can be completed for Inspiration ✧, which is required for certain Figment Store purchases such as customs and semi-customs.

See the link above for basic tips and guidelines for improving your writing for prompts submissions. You may be directed here if staff have difficulties parsing your writing entries.

Community Edeia: Identity

Identity is a community Edeia that anyone can use. You can use them if you do not yet own an Edeia, for instance. You can create your own Identity or use them more casually.

Submitting Prompts

Generally speaking:

You may make three submissions per month cycle, one for each category (usually design, art, writing). The same or different designs/Edeia can be used in each one.
Prompt submissions can be submitted in the #prompt-submissions channel of the Discord server or in the Prompt Submissions Deviantart folder of the group. Auspice or a moderator may approve or reject the prompt. If moderators are uncertain for any prompts, they may defer to Auspice when they are available.
Unless otherwise specified, you may generally use official Edeia designs, alternate forms, previous forms, approved past forms, fusions with complete designs on the ML, and fission fragments with complete designs on the ML. If you wish to use any other design, please ask first.
Please do not use unofficial Edeia for significant roles in prompts. If you need an Edeia to play a role, feel free to ask in the Discord server if anyone is interested in having their character featured!
Prompts must be posted on some social media somewhere, such as Deviantart, Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, etc. or Toyhouse. Toyhouse submissions can be authorized only, as long as Auspice and moderators can see it.
If you have any questions about prompt requirements, please ask for clarification rather than directly proceeding to your entry.

Most prompts have similar requirements, described in the Standard Requirements section below. Unless otherwise specified, these requirements apply to all monthly prompts.

Writing Grammar and Style

As English is a particularly complex language, there are often various errors that will come up, especially when it comes to spelling and grammar, which can make reading difficult. It is therefore highly recommended to use some kind of grammar-checking application or tool as a quick proofreading method, and to follow the suggestions that are presented. Some grammar checking tools you can use are as follows:

Grammarly, Quillbot, LanguageTool, Hemingway Editor, ProWritingAid, EasyBib Writing Assistant.

However, the tools are more of a supplement. The best way to learn grammar is to read style guides and similar resources, some of which are listed on the Writing Tips page.

Late Policy

Generally, prompts must be submitted before the date and time indicated on the active prompt.

Late pardons (which have no cost) can only be granted by Auspice. These will generally only be made for slight lateness (up to around 5 or 10 minutes) and/or unanticipated complications such as technical difficulties. Mods can leave an entry to be pending until Auspice is available to decide whether or not to pardon the late submission.

There is also a system of late-hours. Every three prompts you complete you get one "late-hour," which will be included on the Figment inventory spreadsheet. If you turn in a submission late, it can be up to one hour and it expends that entire late-hour. Late-hours can be stacked and expended all at once. Mods can accept the usage of late-hours and mark usage in the "Used Late-Hours" column.

Prompt Passes

Prompt passes can be used to complete any existing monthly prompt at any time. They are tracked in the inventory as well. Currently, you can get prompt passes from the following activities:

completing Development Prompts.
completing an artwork as a backup artist for an art train in the Edeia Discord Server.
completing gift prompt entries for others.
creating gift artwork or writing for an Edeia, Fission, or Fusion showcased in a monthly feature.

A gift entry should focus on others' characters and not your own; if interactions with your characters are involved, they should be secondary to the recipient's characters. (Generally, art and design prompts are recommended to only feature others' characters, while writings can have minor appearances by your characters.) If you use a prompt pass to submit an entry, you will not receive another prompt pass.

Standard Requirements

Design Prompt

Must be fullbody with no cropping
No background required, but you can add something if you like.
The character must be "decent," i.e. wearing clothes or something if they have parts to cover. If parts do not show normally and/or they are as decent as any other of their species would be, that is fine.

Art Prompt

Part:

for one character - fullbody or almost
for two characters - partial body (thighs/equivalent or more)
three or more characters - halfbody (chest/equivalent up)

Rendering: Fully colored with shading.

Background: Some background with some environment. Can be blurry and/or undetailed, but it should give a sense of what kind of location they're in.

Text: Optional. Provide a little blurb about the situation, whether a reflection by the character, a summary of what the situation is, dialogue, etc.

Modifications

Different elements of your entry can be made more complex to simplify other parts. Here are some permitted modifications:

Part Exchange: You can draw more of one character to draw less of another; for instance, one fullbody + one halfbody with two characters, or one partial body + one halfbody + one bust for three characters.
Complexity/Part Exchange: If the character, background, and/or props (elements not part of the character) are complex, partial or halfbody for a single character is acceptable.
Complex Background/Simple Character: If only simple characters are present (e.g. Concept, Consciousness, and similar), a full background (with distinct background, middleground, and sometimes foreground elements) is required.
Rendered Character/Simple Background: If the characters are fully rendered (depicting interactions with environmental lighting and textures such as metallic/matte/glossy/translucent), abstract background is permitted.
Linework/Complex Background: The prompt can be depicted through clean linework and simple shading. Colors/tones/values/fills are not required, and shading can be cell shading, hatching, or other techniques. A full background (with distinct background, middleground, and sometimes foreground elements) is required.

Animations

For animations / animated artwork, you can consult with Auspice, as there are many possibilities. Here are some examples of what could work:

Fully colored and shaded, full color background, two halfbody characters, minor animation (similar posing but hair/arms/eyes may be animated), animated sequence with storytelling
Fully colored but not shaded, colored background, two partial body characters, minor animation, animated sequence with storytelling
Fully colored and shaded, full color background, one partial body character, moderate animation (whole body tweening and/or looping action with ~50% of body animated)
Not colored or shaded (monochrome or lineart), at least one fullbody character, major animation (at least 5-10 unique frames depending on character complexity), can be storytelling or looping

Writing Prompt

Minimum word count: 1200 words
The writing can be written as scenes (including dialogue and/or high level of detail), as a synopsis (summary-like description of events), or a combination of the two (synopsis with dialogue, for instance). For other types of writing, consult Auspice.
You may submit a collection of disconnected short writings/drabbles, 400 words minimum each. Connected scenes do not have a minimum; it counts as disconnected if the characters are different and/or there is no connecting plot/narrative.
If you wish, you can turn on comment permissions on the submission doc to allow general critique from Auspice/mods on your writing. General audience should not comment in the doc itself.
It is highly recommended to use some kind of grammar-checking application or tool as a quick proofreading method (see above).

Challenge Prompt

You are required to make at least 10 art pieces, whether on the same or different canvas, with the following requirements:

Part: fullbody or almost (for one character; any additional characters can be drawn but are not counted for requirements)
Quality: rough quality (i.e. painting with unpolished brushstrokes or linework with sketchy lines visible) permissible
Rendering: Colored with minimal shading.
Background: Not required.

If at least 6 depict others' Edeia, a Prompt Pass can be claimed. Fusions you share with another person count as "half" for this number.

Active Prompts

June 2026 Prompt: Unfamiliar Lands

A depiction of Aya Meadow, the first Petalkin community, founded by Ayeia in a lovely meadow by a lake in Europe in 1490. Its borders are not strict, though it has been partially contained in a Sanctuary since 1499. Most Petalkin in the Meadow live in the wilderness, basking in the natural air and light, but some may choose to live more comfortably in simple homes.

The universe of Ideation is vast—not only in scale, but also in the varieties of societies and the locations in which they reside. With the Age of Reunion, many previously-hidden magical societies and locations became known to the mundane, including those currently or previously in Sanctuaries, those hidden by other Edeia, and those hidden by their very environment. Over the years, several of these places, once inaccessible to others due to Secrecy, for protecting the area, or for other reasons, have become open to visits, some expanding on tourism or welcoming immigrants into their society. Many protected magical wildernesses are now available to visit, so long as measures are taken so that neither the visitor nor the lands would be harmed.

This prompt focuses on locations of Ideation, including those listed on the Locations page and those developed by community members.

You may submit a location to be used for this prompt in #questions-suggestions-feedback; the link can be a TH page, tab, public Google Doc, or any other public link.
You can refer to the Location Submission form for recommended fields, but you do not need to follow it exactly and do not need an image (but it would likely be very helpful if you did).
The lore will be listed on this Google Doc for this prompt; this is not considered a submission for the Community Locations sheet (for which you must follow all the requirements and need an image).
You can update the information in the document through #questions-suggestions-feedback; for instance, you can add an image created for the design prompt as an image for the location. If it is not your image, please be sure you have permission to use it.

Design Prompt

Depict a location in the world of Ideation. These environments can be natural or have built structures. Abstractions can qualify if they are a notable location, such as if they host a society, are merged into the physical plane, etc. Requirements:

Full scene with some amount of depth.
You do not need to depict a character for this prompt, but you can include them if you like.
Shading preferred but not required.
The location must be in Locations or the June 2026 community location document, and can be your own or someone else's. Please note which location it is.

Art Prompt

Create artwork depicting an Edeia at one of the locations in Locations or the June 2026 community location document. Are they visiting, or do they have a residence there? Do they have personal friends at the location, or do they have a business arrangement with the location? Are they simply sightseeing?

Optionally, you can include a blurb about the context and/or about the thoughts of the Edeia. Please note which location it is.

Writing Prompt

Create writing depicting an Edeia at one of the locations in Locations or the June 2026 community location document. The writing can include before and after they arrive at the location, so long as the prompt focuses on their thoughts about the location and interaction with it and/or its denizens.

May 2026 Prompt: Mental Health Awareness

An infographic on Generalized Anxiety Disorder made by Ipsivivere in-universe, also featuring Rhythm, Raein, Ki, Ro, Pacific, and Ambris.

Since 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month (or Mental Health Month) has been observed in May in the United States. With the arrival of Reunion in 2016, many other individuals across society, if not entire nations and societies, have taken up observation as well. Research into the causes and mechanisms of mental health concerns has since incorporated metaphysical factors as well, in addition to investigating how metaphysical states such as soul pathologies and soulbonds can affect mental health.

The purpose of Mental Health Awareness Month is to raise awareness, educate the public, and reduce stigma about mental illnesses and conditions affecting mental health, such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. Activities include media showcases (films, books, games, etc.), events held by experts or those otherwise knowledgeable about mental health, guest speakers in Ideation Academy, and promotion of research about mental health and resources for mental health support.

The focus of prompt submissions should be on mental health. You can explore formally classified mental disorders (depression, OCD, eating disorders, etc.), as well as physical or neurological conditions that significantly intersect with mental health, as long as the prompt entries center the mental health dimension—causes, coping, stigma, emotional experience, and so on.

Design Prompt

Research a mental health condition or condition that significantly intersects with mental health, and create an infographic featuring one or more Edeia. At minimum, you can include one one half or partial body or three headshots. This does not need to be shaded.

If you wish, this can canonically be an infographic created by the Edeia or at least by their approval.
Please be sure to use factual, verified information, though you can include subjective and fictional elements if, for instance, they can provide perspectives on personal experiences, stigma, public attitudes, etc.
You may include Ideation fictional lore elements if you wish, but please label any fictional elements clearly. It is very encouraged to share your infographic publicly so that you, too, can raise awareness about mental health!

Art Prompt

Create artwork featuring an Edeia observing Mental Health Awareness Month, whether as a participant or organizer.

Writing Prompt

Create writing exploring a mental health condition an Edeia had or still has and how it has impacted their life and interactions with others, and/or the Edeia observing Mental Health Awareness Month. You may also explore physical or neurological conditions that they might have had before Actualization, and how they interacted with their mental health.

April 2026 Prompt: Flowers

If I were asked to choose one flower to favor, I would choose lilies. White lilies, in particular. Its associations appeal to me—mourning, rebirth. Concepts intricately intertwined with who I am. Aesthetically, they are pleasant, as well. Their simple white coloration and elegant form are soothing to me.

With spring come flowers, blooming in all manners of shapes and colors. There is something transient about them, something deeply connected with the comings and goings of life; there is something about them that has enraptured cultures across the world, giving them all sorts of meanings. How might an Edeia feel about flowers? Do they have a favorite? If so, what draws them to that particular flower? Do they make use of flowers, whether for decoration, communication, as gifts, or something else?

You may submit up to three entries for this prompt, one of each option below. If you use a previous year's prompt, you cannot double up on the same type.

Art Prompt 1

Create artwork depicting an Edeia with their favorite flower(s).

The flower does not need to be realistically rendered, but should be recognizable.
The flower does not need to have realistic colors; they can be flowers conjured by the Edeia's magic or actual flowers from the physical plane.
At least one flower must be present and clearly visible.

Additionally, please include a short written excerpt/blurb that includes what the flower is and why it is the Edeia's favorite. ]

Art Prompt 2

Create artwork depicting how flowers are a part of an Edeia's life. For instance, they might be:

conjuring flowers to decorate their Abstraction
growing physical flowers in their Abstraction or an external garden
giving flowers to others for some purpose
wearing flowers for aesthetic purposes

The flowers do not need to have realistic colors; they can be flowers conjured by the Edeia's magic or actual flowers from the physical plane.

Additionally, please include a short written excerpt/blurb that includes what the flower is and why it is the Edeia's favorite.

Writing Prompt

Create writing depicting an Edeia and their thoughts on or usage of flowers. The piece may explore the Edeia's favorite flower and why it is their favorite, and/or it could explore how the Edeia makes use of flowers in their life.
