Leaf description:
The leaves are yellow-ish green, and can grow from 8 to 20 centimeters long. The leaf has 5 lobes. In the fall, the leaves turn yellow, orange, red, or a combination of those colours.

Sugar maple buds look brownish-reddish and have small scales on them. There are usually three buds close together.
Bark description:
Sugar maples bark is smooth and grey-ish brown. And become darker and splits into ridges that curl out when the tree gets older.

The sugar maple is native to the eastern part of North America. Native Americans tapped sugar maples for their sweet maple syrup, and used the sugar of the tree for bartering. The hardwood was useful in the making of furniture and flooring.
