The Hallberg Butterfly Gardens in Sebastopol created this fun matching game:
Instructions: Can you match the caterpillars with the moth or butterfly they turn into? After printing this game on the double-sided setting on your printer, cut out the square caterpillar and moth/butterfly cards. You can check the answers on the answer sheet or flip over each card to see if the numbers match.

If you're in the area you can learn more about the gardens by visiting their site: Hallberg Butterfly Gardens
You can even organize your own group 'Adventure' in Sonoma County with multiple stops including a Samartine Bakery, California Flora Nursery, HopMonk Tavern, Hallberg Butterfly Gardens and more! See our "Take an Adventure" page for details and links.
By reading to kids about the natural world and all the ways they can use their own yards and school gardens to fight back against species loss, we can give them a sense of empowerment. We can inspire them to connect with the natural world, gain a sense of purpose, and take action. In my own experience, helping kids get outdoors and explore the world around them reduces screen time, improves their physical and mental health, and sparks their curiosity about the natural world.
These books are just a sampling of the wonderful publications that are available and I will continue to add to this list, so check back to see what's new!
