Tree-planting initiative 

On Thursday, October 9, 2025, we are organizing a tree-planting activity on  The Island of Lake Pamvotis. This event will take place in collaboration with the volunteer team Paguristas. 

The Island of Lake Pamvotis

In the heart of Lake Pamvotis, Ioannina’s famous lake, lies a unique inhabited island – one of only a few in the world without an official name. Simply called “the Island” by locals, it is known for its traditional stone houses, peaceful alleys, and rich history. Surrounded by calm waters and framed by the mountains the island is a place of unique beauty Visitors can explore its monasteries, many dating back to the Byzantine era, and learn about Ali Pasha, whose final days unfolded here. Today, the island is also celebrated for its welcoming community, local crafts, and delicious lake-fish tavernas, offering a perfect glimpse into Ioannina’s culture and traditions.

Together, we hope to make the island even greener and to raise awareness about the importance of caring for our environment
