Is a public school, follows the national curriculum, is one of the 7th schools for blinds from Romania. The school was founded in 1957, is attended by 120 students between 3-17 years (kindergarden, primary and secondary school). The schedule includes 2 sections: regular classes in the morning, recreational activities and therapies in the afternoon. SPS have many activities - social inclusion and life abilities,occupational therapy, dance, music , visits,games, piano,swiming lessons, parties. The school develop partnerships with local comunity - “Climb Again” NGO – Sport actıvıtıes, English language activities with volunteers, teater- drama, Family activities with ARVAR Association. Our students participated in many competitions and have won prizes –music and dans competion “SNAC”, sport competitios in Special Olympics, Climbing competition. In the school are many non-formal, leisure, recreation, development activities wich brings more value in order to increase the quality of life.
The school offers to the students specialized educational services, the possibility to develop themselves , to prepare for life and for a future profession in an optimal setting, supervised by specialists. Most of the students follow the mainstream school curriculum and students with multiple deficiencies receive personalised educational plans. Students from outside the city are enrolled in the boarding school, who has a different administration. In the school are special areas for therapies –polysensory room, visual education, speech therapy, braille, orientation and mobility, physiotherapy, psycho –diagnosis cabinets.
Our teachers also contributed to The Catalogue of good inclusion practices and teaching guides of math, music, mother language anf foreign language they are also interested in ecology and climate change they have some studies on what can be. In the European project Robobraille, the school hosted several workshops about computer skills, media skills, adapting materials for students with special education needs. we work with the partners on the same etwinning project and now they are adapting it to Erasmus+ .
