Friday-Sunday: At least one response to others' postings
Tasks
Apply bibliometric analysis to understand which journal of the three your selected in the beginning of the course is the more suitable to submit your manuscript.
Differences: Search the journal you plan to analyze
Optional: Analyze all three journals you selected; therefore, you can compare and contract whether one is more suitable to submit your manuscript.
Discussion Question
How did this bibliometric analysis support your decision?
Which journal you may submit your manuscript to?
Share your bibliometric analysis screenshots with the class.
Assignment
Assignment 7: Final Article
Grade: 40 Points
Due
End of the module
Submission
Use Google Docs to share your assignment with the instructor at CT68@nau.edu by the deadline.
File Name: ECI721-YourLastName-YourFirstName-Assignment#. EX. ECI721-Tu-Chih-A7 (Incorrect file name or file format is unacceptable & will result in point deduction.)
Give the instructor & your teammates "To Edit" privilege so the instructor and the teammates can provide feedback onto the shared document (see the image below or view this Google Docs sharing tutorial.)
Peer Feedback Rubric: Formatting
Novice: 0 (0.00%) - 79 (79.00%)
The manuscript is not yet complete, and still needs substantial work. The cover letter may or may not be written. It is clear that much more work needs to be done prior to submission.
Competent: 80 (80.00%) - 89 (89.00%)
A complete manuscript is created and could soon be submitted for publication. The cover letter is provided. With just a little more work, the paper will be ready for submission for publication; or the paper appears to be submitted, but the confirmation email or cover letter is missing.
Proficient: 90 (90.00%) - 100 (100.00%)
A complete manuscript is created and submitted for publication. The manuscript, along with the confirmation letter, email, and cover letter are provided.
Participate course evaluation
Check your NAU e-mail to see when the course evaluation is available. Generally, it is open during the last weeks of the instructions.
Take your time with the revisions. I usually stew on the revisions for a few weeks before starting the revisions
Realize that you might have several rounds of revisions
Either way, don’t give up! It takes persistence to publish in academic journals.
Publication Agreements
Some journals will have you sign over copyright to the paper to the publication. If so, they will send you a form to sign.
Final Page Proofs
Usually, an editor or a copy editor will contact you with the page proofs to review as the last step before publication
Sometimes the copy editor will be very detailed in recommended changes, and sometimes this is more cursory
Usually, you will only have a very short time to turn the proofs around (24-48 hours is typical)
Make sure to review and respond in the requested timeframe
Publication
After the page proofs, you will just wait for the publication
If the journal is printed, then you will be given a link for the advance online copy just days after completing the page proofs. The print version will come out later.
If the journal is online only, the publication will be available right away.
Make sure to update your CV to include the publication. List it as “in press” until the print date.
