Lenoir-Rhyne Teaching Scholars

Lenoir-Rhyne University is currently recruiting Teaching Scholars for the 2020-21 academic year. This scholarship program provides financial aid and enrichment activities for students who wish to pursue teaching as a career. Scholars receive an award of $5500 a year in addition to other aid for which they qualify. A Scholar typically receives close to $16,000 annually to support their education at LRU. Please see Mr. Felder if interested.

Good Night Scholars Program

To receive an automatic invitation to apply, a student must:

    • Submit the general NC State application by October 15, 2018.

    • Indicate a family income of less than $110,000 on the NC State application (confirmed via the FAFSA. See the ‘Free Application for Federal Student Aid Submission’ below.)

    • Be a North Carolina resident.

    • Select a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) major or STEM education major.

    • Demonstrate a history of exceptional academic performance.

    • Students with unique financial circumstances may also self-nominate between October 15 and December 1

Per Mr. Felder:

Please inform your seniors that the opportunity to be nominated for the following Scholarships at the listed Universities is available. They may submit a letter of interest stating why they should be chosen for the Scholarship, brief biography, and their ACT/SAT scores. Submissions should be no longer than two pages. The submissions are due to Mr. Felder no later than Friday, September 21, 2018.

The Levine Scholarship at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (unlimited nominees, students must be endorsed by School)

Morehead Cain at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (two nominees, students may self-nominate)

The Park Scholarship at North Carolina State University (two nominees, students may self-nominate)

Follow these steps sent to us by Crosby Scholars:

Here are steps you can take to submit your essay:

1) Attach your essay to an e-mail addressed to seniorprogram@crosbyscholars.org;

2) List the college(s) for which you are writing this essay in the body of the e-mail;

3) Tell us why you are writing this essay (Common App, etc);

4) Write the prompt in the body of the e-mail, along with word limit and any other restrictions;

5) Send it to seniorprogram@crosbyscholars.org

We send your essay(s) to our volunteer readers, who pledge to provide feedback within one week.
