Life is magical in the world - fueled by magical energy that flows like currents around the world. This energy - Mana - comes in 4 elements - Fire, Water, Wind and Earth, and can come in many forms - as pure elemental forms, as elemental spirits, or as monsters.

As mana is the energy that flows around the world, it also fuels life. In fact, it is a fact that a person's soul is made up of mana. Once they pass, they return to mana and disperse in the world. As to retaining their conscience after or if they reincarnate is up to debate.

Magic is the manipulation of mana. The performing of magic is complex on its own, requiring understanding the complexity of mana, its types and forms. The usage of magic naturally uses up one's mana - but mana naturally restores after rest.
Some magic requires affinity - an individual's attraction towards an element. Everyone has a natural affinity towards one element, but not all can perform magic.

Natural
Only a few beings can naturally manipulate elements without tools or sigils. This requires strong elemental affinity and complete understanding and control of one’s connection to mana.
Sigils and Runes
Sigils and Runes
Magic can be infused into tools and surfaces through sigils and runes. Creating them requires a steady hand, elemental affinity, mana control, and knowledge of their symbols. Imbued tools can be used by anyone, but still consume the user’s mana.
Song
Song
Magic performed through specific lyrics of ancient songs that manipulate and harmonize surrounding elements. Only established magical words and combinations work—gibberish words do not. It requires precise pronunciation, knowledge of the language, elemental affinity, and mana control.
Spellbooks
Spellbooks
Ancient, powerful magicians imbued their mana and sigils into a single, unique copy of each spellbook. Each contains a limited number of spells, usually focused on a specific type of magic. Anyone holding one can activate its spells simply by reading the writings, without needing elemental affinity. Due to their rarity and power, spellbooks are heavily guarded.
Alchemy
Alchemy
Alchemy manipulates elements at an atomic level through specialized tools and complex knowledge of chemistry and biology without the need for elemental affinity or mana control. Alchemists can synthesize and transform materials without elemental affinity, making alchemy a powerful and versatile art. Their inventions function independently of both elemental affinity and mana, making alchemy a powerful and versatile art.

Healing Magic
Magic used to restore the physical, emotional, and spiritual body. It can be performed through any magical method or element, requiring only an understanding of how an element can promote restoration.

Plant Magic
Magic used to manipulate, grow, transform, and bend plants. It requires both Water and Earth affinity and can be performed through any form of magic.

Spatial Magic
Spatial Magic
A highly complex magic that temporarily bends space and reality, allowing the creation of pocket spaces and teleportation gates. It can be performed through any form of magic and requires affinity with all elements.

Regulations of Magic
Regulations of Magic
Alchemy is strictly forbidden without a license from the United Alliance Magic Guild (UAMG)
Procuring the licence would require a thorough background check, interviews, mandatory attendance to Alchemy classes taught by Alchemist War Veterans, and a 5-day examination that consists of accomplishing several quests.
Performing forbidden magic is illegal and is cause for imprisonment. The following acts of magic are considered forbidden:
Magic that changes the structure of Mana (i.e. Alchemy)
Magic that destroys Mana.
Magic that deforms biological structure
Magic that manipulates the Mind/Emotion/Soul
Magic imbued directly onto oneself or another’s body
Affinity is required for elemental magic. A magic-user can have affinity to only one element, or more but will always favor one element over the other.
A magic-user, when educated and have a clear understanding of magic and have great reservoir of mana, can perform any number of type of magic.
