Do You Feel Called to Serve?
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10
The following Ebenezer ministries currently have opportunities for you to use your gifts
Nominations
In the Christian Reformed Church (CRC), the roles of elder and deacon are central to the spiritual and operational health of the congregation. Elders are primarily tasked with the spiritual oversight of the church. They work alongside the pastor to ensure sound doctrine is taught, provide pastoral care to members, and guard the spiritual well-being of the community. Their role is one of "shepherding," focusing on the guidance, discipline, and encouragement of the flock to foster a deep, living faith.
Deacons, on the other hand, represent the "mercy of Christ." Their mandate is to lead the congregation in ministries of benevolence, stewardship, and justice. They are the hands and feet of the church, identifying needs within the local community and the world at large, and mobilizing resources to meet them. While elders focus on the "Word and sacraments," deacons focus on "service and witness," ensuring that the church’s faith is expressed through tangible acts of compassion and the wise use of God’s gifts.
Together with the ministers, these office-bearers form the Council, the governing body of the local church. The current nomination process is a vital time for the congregation to identify individuals who possess the biblical qualifications, such as spiritual maturity, a servant’s heart, and a respected reputation—to fill these essential roles.
The Council invites all members to prayerfully consider who among them is gifted for these leadership positions. Whether you are nominating a fellow member or discerning your own call to serve, please ensure all submissions are completed soon.
