The following ministries currently have opportunities for you to use your gifts:

Help Needed at Trenton High School

At Trenton High, we run a vibrant and busy Food for Learning Program. Every day, we proudly serve approximately 120 lunches, over 50 breakfasts, and countless snacks to our students. While we are incredibly lucky to have a few dedicated volunteers from our community, our program is growing and we are looking for more helping hands to join our team.

All of the volunteers do need a criminal record for vulnerable sector check, and since you will have a letter from THS it will be at no cost to you.  

We currently have a few different roles available depending on your schedule and interests.

Weekly Hot Breakfast Cook

We currently provide self-serve breakfast items like toasted bagels, yogurt, and cereal. However, we would love to elevate this experience by serving one hot breakfast per week, such as pancakes, French toast, or scrambled eggs. If you are an early bird who loves to cook, this is the perfect role for you.  You are welcome to bring a friend.

The hours for this role are from 7:00 AM to around 8:30 AM, as students arrive to eat at approximately 7:50 AM. You will have full access to our industrial kitchen, and we provide all the food and supplies you will need.

Weekly Grocery Shopper

We need a volunteer who is willing to handle grocery shopping for our program once a week, preferably on a Tuesday or Wednesday. You will use a school credit card to shop at Walmart or FreshCo, so we are looking for someone with a great eye for finding sales and getting the best prices.

When you return to the school, you won't have to worry about heavy lifting. Students or teachers will meet you at the door to unload your car and put the groceries away. The only administrative requirement is to ensure you ask the cashier for two copies of the receipt.

Tuesday Morning Order Organizer

Every Tuesday morning between 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM, we need someone to help us receive and put away our delivery from Findlay Foods. This role involves unpacking boxes, stocking cupboards and refrigerators, and doing a quick inventory check to ensure we aren't running low on essentials.

If you have extra time and want to help with light kitchen prep while you're here, that would be a wonderful bonus. Please note that this position requires someone who can comfortably lift heavy boxes and reach higher shelves, though we do have a step stool available.

Morning Kitchen Prep and Cleanup

Finally, we are looking for a few volunteers to join us on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday mornings to help prepare food and wash dishes. This role is crucial for getting our daily lunches ready for the students. The typical shift runs from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
