Summary:
In Katherin Nolte's book, Back to the Bright Before, we follow eleven year old Pet on a magical adventure. When Pet's dad falls off a ladder, and the bills start piling up, her mom works late nights at the diner. Pet and her brother hear a poem about an ancient coin that could solve all their family's financial problems. They set off on an adventure in order to restore their family to it's previous joyful state.

Pick 5 mini illustrations from the text and write a sentence summary to portray what the character or illustration is about. Incorporate how they may feel, what emotions they are experiencing, and how the setting is relevant.
