Today's trip was all tar road. The first priority was breakfast so we stopped at the big M before leaving Jeffrey's Bay. We stopped at the Cheetah Farm along the R75 near the Kirkwood turnoff for some shopping.
View of New Bethesda from the North
As we ascended the passes between Graaff-Reinet and New Bethesda, the temperature dropped to 14C and it remained overcast. While descending from the top of Rubidge Kloof Pass you enter a beautiful valley through which the Gats river flows (See image at the top) that leads you to New Bethesda.
We drove directly to the Caravan Park, which is on the edge of town, and selected the best spot before heading into town to look at the quaint buildings and visit the NG Church, Tot Hier Toe Farm Stall, The Owl House and The Brewery & Deli. The Tot Hier Toe Farm Stall had recently had a village pumkin competition and the winning pumkin weighed 232 kg.
We enjoyed a pint of the local brew at The Brewery & Deli before heading back to the Caravan Park 50m up the road. There was one other camper in the park.
During the out-of-season period, it is important to select a restaurant and make a booking because most of the restaurants are closed, however they will open if they get a booking.
We chilled out at the Caravan Park until 17h45 before heading back into town to enjoy the Lamb Curry dinner at the The Village Inn Restaurant.

Zonnenstrahl Caravan Park is small and is part of the Zonnenstrahl Guest House on the opposite side of the road. The ablutions were clean and functional. The camp sites surround the ablutions in the centre of the park and each camp site includes an electrical plug.
