What an awesome adventure, refreshing old memories and creating new memories. It was enhanced by sharing sections with Mike and Daleen and meeting up with Chris, Bruce and Michelle who go back to my days in the Department of Telecommunications (now Telkom) (1980's).
The bad fuel that blocked the filters in the Fuel Pump causing my vehicle to stop 2.4 km before I got home was disappointing, but then this is the first fuel related issue I have experienced in 24 years with over 240 000km of travel. Luckily I could fix this myself and had the Defender back up on it's feet in no-time.
Having dinner with good friends in Jeffreys Bay.
My definition of a good friend is someone you trust, respect, can depend on and share common interests while respecting each others privacy & independance ... and do not feel offended when you do not communicate with one another for weeks, months or years, yet when you do meet-up, your relationship feels that it has not lost it's positivity and reciprocallity (being there for each other, if required). The key to a lasting friendship is not to abuse it.
This is a difficult one. My memories of the Mountain Zebra National Park (MZNP) were very faded. This was my favourite National Park as I was surprised by the stunning drive through the ravine up to the top of the mountain and descending down onto the grassy plains and seeing such a variety and quantity of animals.
I can never pick a favourite pass, however the pass that possibly impressed me the most is the Klipspringer Pass for its tight winding road through stunning Karoo scenary.
