2018
Working on the 70thBirthday Party has been a learning experience using applications new to me and also an aging experience. I went from 68 last summer to thinking about myself as 70 all this year. Maybe it won’t be such a shock this fall when I actually turn 70.
The picture to the left is my husband Art, myself holding our dog Emma and our son Jacob Christmas 2017.
Most of my career was working at Eastman Kodak in the IT department. Over the years I have worked with many refugees from Southern Sudan.
My husband Art and I recently became residents of South Carolina. We are enjoying the mild winters, sunshine and walking on the beach.
This little angel, Awuol, is the son of one of the "Lost Boys" I was working shortly after he arrived in the US. He eventually went back to Africa to marry and then worked to get his wife and son to the US. Awuol arrived in the US when he was almost 2. I met him a few months later shortly after my sister passed away and I had returned home from little Rock, AR where my sister lived.
I drove him to preschool as a 2, 3 and 4 year old in hopes he would start kindergarten with a decent command of the English language. Little did I know how much he would help my heart heal from the lost of my sister.
Awuol is now 8; in the picture he was 4.
