Maps
Layers on Google Maps
Navigate to a Point of Interest (POI)
Click Menu Icon (three lines in search box)
Click labels to toggle on/off the available layers
Satellite
Labels and 3D on
Layers include: Traffic, Transit, Bicycling, and Terrain
Google Maps 3D Tilt
Navigate to a Point of Interest (POI)
Click Satellite View
Click 3D Icon in bottom right corner
Hold down “ctrl” or "command" key and drag mouse around POI
Google Maps Space
Go to Google Maps
Zoom out as far as possible and click Satellite View
In satellite view, zoom out a little more and the space panel should appear
Click an object in space and explore
Click “Earth” in space panel to get back to Earth
Measuring Distances and Areas
Navigate to a Point of Interest (POI) and Right-Click (secondary click) your starting point
Select “Measure distance”
Left-Click next point(s)
To Clear measurements click “x” in the measurements information box.
Changing the Boundaries on Maps
Navigate to a Point of Interest (POI) - Ex. Crimea
Click Menu Icon (three lines in search box)
Select “Search Settings”
Select new region “Regions Setting” - Ex. Russia
Click “Save” (User may have to prove they’re not a robot:)
Observe changed border of Crimean Peninsula (dotted border to solid border)
Make sure to change “Regions Settings” back to “Current Region” for user’s perspective
