2. Sestava Zemlje / Earth's Internal Structure
EARTH'S LAYERED STRUCTURE
The left side of the large cross section shows that Earth's interior is devided into three different layers based on compositional differences:
- the crust (low destity rock),
- mantle (high desitiy rock), and
- core (iron and nickel).
The right side of the large cross section depicts layers of the Earth's interior based on physical properties:
- the lithosphere (solid and rigid),
- asthenosphere (solid but mobile),
- lower mantle (solid),
- outer core (liquid), and
- inner core (solid).
The block diagram on the upper left shows an enlarged view of the upper portion of Earth's interior.

ZEMLJINA LUPINASTA ZGRADBA
Leva stran večjega prereza prikazuje razdelitev Zemljine notranjosti na tri sloje glede na razlike v njihovi sestavi:
- skorjo (kamnine nizke gostote),
- plašč (kamnine visoke gostote) in
- jedro (železo in nikelj).
Desna stran večjega prereza pa prikazuje plasti Zemljine notranjosti razdeljene na podlagi njihovih fizični lastnosti:
- litosfero (trdno in togo),
- astenosfero (trdno a mobilno),
- spodnji plašč (trden),
- zunanje jedro (tekoče) in
- notrenje jedro (trdno).
Diagram levo zgoraj predstavlja povečan izsek zgornjega dela Zemljine notranjosti.
