This page of my website is going to be dedicated to tracking the progress of my E. coli test of my stream. There will be a photo each day, and I will provide additional information and descriptions of each photo!
At the end of the day, there was no sign of any blue spots, but the gel has become thicker than when first put in the bag. Hopefully tomorrow there will be some formed colonies!
At the end of the second day, we were able to notice 3 new blue spots! This means that the E. coli colonies are forming, and that there is some E. coli present in the stream. The second photo shows 2 of those spots more clearly. I think that tomorrow there will be yet another increase in E. coli, but we'll see then!
Today there were a lot more spots. They didn't come up as dots, but rather groups or splotches of E. coli. I am unsure about how I should begin to record this data, but I am going to count each splotch as a colony, and make that my total until I am told otherwise. Below is an example of said splotches. Today the total of splotches came out to 23. When we multiply this by 10, it comes out to 230 spots of E. coli.
