Change Healthcare Ransomware attack.
In 2024 Change Healthcare suffered from one of the biggest health ransomware attacks in U.S history. Millions of their health care users personal information was stolen. They were hit by a Russian ransomware gang known as, "ALPHV/BlackCat". Unitedhealth gave in and payed the ransomware gang $22 million dollars, and in return the hackers went away. Although this company was hit with a scary attack, doing things like not clicking on unfamiliar emails and links can help avoid smaller attacks.

In May of 2022 AT&T was hit with a data breach and it lasted until January 2023. The hackers gained access to the customers data, calls, and texts. This hack put a spotlight onto how to avoid these things, and how to be carful. The article provided information about precautions, suggesting that smartphone users should not trust texts from unrecognized numbers and to never click links that you are unfamiliar with.
I learned a lot with this project! I researched different companies and learned about how major businesses are dealing with a major cybersecurity battle. I got to learn a little more about how to keep myself protected from cyber threats with the cybersecurity training. Overall, this project was extremely insightful about different types of cybercrimes and how to handle them.
