Configuring the simulation
Having defined the model that constitutes the problema to study, the next step is defining the type of simulation to run (Static analysis vs Dynamic analysis, Linear analysis vs Non-linear analysis, etc.).
In the Calculation menu, when selecting the Configuration option, the dialog box for configuring the simulation is shown.
The DynamFluid application supports two simulation types:
· Static Configuration: A stationary solution is searched. The simulation ends when the stationary regime is reached with a tolerance smaller than the specified value in the Tolerance text box.
· Dynamic Configuration: The values at different instants are searched. The values should be contained in the interval (Starting instant, Final Instant), spaced at regular intervals as specified in the Increment text box.
The following dialog box is shown for static simulations:
The options that can be configured in static simulations are:
Type of Analysis:
Linear: Elasticity
Non-linear: Plasticity
Type of modelling:
Plane stress
Plane strain
Tolerance:
Maximum admissible value of the difference between the value obtained by DynamFluid and the value of the theoretical solution.
The following dialog box is shown for dynamic simulations:
The configuring options for dynamic simulations are the following:
Type of modeling:
CFD – Comp: Solves a fluid-dynamic problem, assuming the fluid is compressible.
CFD – Incomp: Solves a fluid-dyanmic problem, assuming the fluid is incompressible.
Increment:
Time step between instants for the transient regime.
Maximum time step between instants for the stationary regime.
Starting Instant:
The numerical value when the simulation starts.
Final Instant:
The numerical value when the simulation ends. The simulation ends when reaching this value or greater than this value.
Vel. relaxation factor:
Relaxation factor for the velocity. The admissible value is between 0.0 and 1.0.
Visc. relaxation factor.
Relaxation factor for the viscosity. The admissible factor is between 0.0 and 1.0.
Pres. relaxation factor:
Relaxation factor for the pressure. The admissible value is between 0.5 and 1.0.
Energy relaxation factor:
Relaxation factor for the energy. The admissible value is between 0.0 and 1.0.
Tolerance:
Maximum admissible value between the solution obtained by DynamFluid in the stationary regime and the theoretical solution of the problem.
Stationary:
DynamFluid has to obtain a stationary solution of the problem.
Transient:
DynamFluid has to obtain a transient solution of the problema at regular instants defined by the Increment field.
Energy Calculation:
When this option is selected, the energy equation is solved for the Dynamic Fluid problema (obtaining the energy at every time instant).
After defining the configuration parameter, select the OK button to save the configuration.
The next step is solving the problem.
