GENERAL

Escola Secundária Vitorino Nemésio (ESVN), located in Praia da Vitória, Terceira Island, in the Azores offers a variety of teaching areas and levels. We have middle and secondary classes, vocational courses and also adult students, who attend classes at night or take online classes (total of 950 students and 118 teachers). This is the only secondary school in Praia da Vitória, so there is a wide variety of courses aimed at preparing the students to contribute for the economic, cultural and social development of our community. This is also possible because ESVN has a unique set of facilities. Escola Secundaria Vitorino Nemésio offers modern and adequate spaces for students to learn and develop local, national and international projects: big classrooms, Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories, library, Arts and Crafts classrooms, modern ICT rooms and free time and recreational spaces (cafeteria and outdoor areas). This school has great sports facilities available for all classes, but above all for the Sports Technician course, there are large fields for the Gardening and Agriculture courses, workshops for the Metalworking course. There are also other courses that require less specific classrooms or spaces such as the Tourism Technician course or the Sociocultural Technician course.

MOTIVATION

It is the role of ESVN, technicians and teachers, to guide these students to abrighter future, giving them the chance to develop their entrepreneurial abilities, providing them knowledge to face life’s ordeals and skills to learn how to make a living and be happy in their own community. A group of hard working teachers who has been in ESVN for more than 15 years coordinate Erasmus projects. If members of this experienced team leave our school, other members will continue the work being done.
