Video of our FIRST Compassion Vision Trip during DW 2012 when we met Irene for the first time.

As a result of participating in this Discovery Week course students will:

  • Get to meet the SFS Compassion Club's sponsored child, Irene Uy.
  • Begin to question - What is poverty and how can we effectively respond to poverty locally and globally?
  • Experience lives being transformed and children being released from the cycle of poverty.

Course Description/Itinerary:

Compassion vision trips include visits to the country office (in Manila) and visiting Compassion centers around the country to see the work of Compassion in children of all ages from birth/prenatal through University level. Daily itineraries include visiting Compassion centers and homes of families who have sponsored children so that we hear their stories. Evenings include debriefings led by a Compassion Korea staff member who helps the participants process what they experienced during the day and lead discussion on poverty. A highlight of this trip will be getting to meet our Compassion Club's sponsored child from the Philippines, Irene!!

Most days include lots of time playing with kids and showing them our love! We have the chance to enter into the lives of those in poverty and bring back their stories to inspire those around us. Evenings are spent at nice hotels and breakfasts and dinners usually include a range of delicious food options.

Requirements/Considerations:
