Amazon Prime has been so good in having quite a few Adèle films available for streaming in the US. Actually they had the most titles. Not long ago I ran a search to see what was available. I was kinda surprised there was not a single film available. Looking further.. I saw there were a few available for renting. In my general checking.. 120 BPM is on Criterion and Hulu. Portrait is on Hulu and Deerskin is on HBO. That's it. Of course there are a few titles you can rent or purchase on Amazon, iTunes and You Tube.

As I have said before. This is why we have our BD and DVD's. Subscription services give and then take away.

At Cannes this year Adèle made a few appearances, and talked about her passionate narration of the documentary "Retour À Reims" [Fragments] . There's no release date yet, but you can check out the film page on Uni France.

Also recently Plain Archive posted on instagram, a preview image of a trilogy of DVD's they will be releasing of Céline Sciamma's films. WOW

Not only is this exciting for fans in Korea, but for the Region 1 area as well. (inc the US and Canada) Plain Archive DVD's are Region free and have English Subtitles. Toyboy and Girlhood are in print in the US and easy to get on disc. Water Lilies is a whole other story. And unless you want to drop 60-125$ for a region 1 disc, you have to pick up a region 2. The only issue here is that you will not have English subs.

As for the image quality Criterion had the best image as it was streaming in HD. However the US edition and French are quite beautiful. I expect Plain Archive to have the superior image on a DVD disc. This is based on their editions of "The Unknown Girl" and "120 BPM" that have the best DVD image.

The other things that I expect to happen, is the Region 1 discs will fall in price once this comes out. This is a good thing. I also expect that if the new DVD is limited in anyway it will be an instant sell out. Hopefully they will do a pre-order, and make as many needed to satisfy demand , and let the discs be in print for a while.

There is no date yet for a pre-order.. just that these should be out by August or the end of the year. (Per Instagram post)

In addition to these DVD's, in the post they said they are coming out with their editions of Portrait of a Lady on Fire. And they are going all out on these releases. They had said on twitter last year that they had exclusive bonus material. And that these would not be limited. They mentioned Blu-ray and DVD... and .... Steelbooks. O_O . Steelbooks are often limited. But that word is very subjective. A limited Ed. Steelbook for Wonder Woman is going to be a higher print than many other films. Again, no pre-order date, but should be out by the end of the year. I know these will be nothing short of spectacular, and general Steelbook collectors will be after these, in addition to Portrait Nation. Very lucky fans in Korea.
