You are a content creator!
This is incredibly exciting, because it means that in this class you have the power to explore your creativity, experiment with new technology and use your voice to express yourself and to communicate with the world.
However, as you are in a professional academic environment, this power comes with great responsibility.
Therefore, creating any material, including images, animation, recordings, video or sound that includes anything in the below list is NOT allowed:
Derogatory statements, content or visuals
Sexually suggestive or explicit content, including nudity
Graphic or casual violence
References to any illicit drug, drug use or drug paraphernalia
Displaying weapons, including knifes and guns, both real and fake
References to gang affiliation or gang paraphernalia
Glorification of crime or violence
Compilations of violent content including things like first person shooters video games
Xenophobic or racist statements, content or visuals
Homophobic or sexist statements, content or visuals
The use of hate symbols
Content that is deemed bullying/Cyberbullying or made for the purpose of teasing others
If you don't follow these rules, your project will receive a failing grade, and you'll lose the right to use the equipment, computers, or software in this class right away.
Pranks that result in physical or emotional harm to peers or staff
Content that encourages or glorifies harm to others or to yourself
Explicit language or cursing
Music with explicit language or sexually suggestive or graphic themes, even if you did not create it
Content showing someone physically breaking or mishandling property
Content showing someone trespassing on private property, unless its a clip from a network newscast
Content showing someone breaking the law, unless its a clip from a network newscast
Content that is copyrighted or plagiarized
Content that promotes hacking, doxing, intimidating or blackmailing
Content that fails to meet any of the norms of academic integrity
Our guidelines for using digital devices are based on a simple idea: Apply your good judgment in an academic setting. This class follows these common-sense rules to ensure a positive and supportive digital learning environment for everyone. Consequently, the following actions are not allowed and will lead to instant loss of access to computers and equipment in the Lab. The duration of this loss depends on how serious the action is, varying from a short time, like a few minutes, to an entire day, or even a permanent restriction from using the computer. These rules are in effect during class sessions, breaks, lunch, and after school:
Searching or displaying inappropriate material, including images, animation, video or sound with derogatory, sexual or violent content, drug use, weapons, gang affiliation or anything outside of standard academic norms
Searching or displaying derogatory, xenophobic, homophobic or racist images, videos or content
Using any of the aforementioned inappropriate content on any of your projects. These projects will get an automatic "F"
Internet searches for the purpose of roasting bullying
Images with violent content such as first person shooters videos
Games in general during class sessions.
Turning off your computer by holding the power button or turning off the power supply.
Using e-mail, direct messaging apps, or other forms of communication to taunt, bully, roast, mock, threaten or attack other students
Music that can be overheard by other students
Hacking, locally or externally
Air Dropping unwanted content on other computers or devices
Plagiarizing work or copying work from other accounts
Logging in to someone else's computer, e-mail or social media accounts
Use of phones in class
Snapchatting, instagraming, texting or using any social media at any time inside the classroom
Running scripts or hacks that alter the normal operation of the computers or programs
Installing unauthorized programs or extension on the computer including proxies to bypass school blocks
Streaming movies or shows during class sessions
Physically breaking or mishandling equipment
