**Action Alert**
The State of New York is constructing a new statewide walking/biking route called the Empire State Trail. Part of the trail is on the road, and to keep hikers and bikers safe we need to slow traffic, particularly on section B of the trail. Sending an email to the New York Department of Transportation would go a long way towards making this trail a safer route for people looking for car alternatives!

Up to 80% of energy consumed in wasted, lights left on when no one is in a room, heating/cooling energy seeping in or out, etc. Many people think the best way to fix this is to create and build new efficient buildings, but it can be equally as effective to retrofit older homes. Skim through some information about why retrofitting is so important here. Read about what RetrofitNY is trying to accomplish here.
Some retrofitting can be done through the weatherization process: for more information, check out what New York State Home and Community Renewal has to offer, or check out Energize Red Hook.
