DCF 2023 FUNDRAISING DRIVE
The Durham High Sporting Clays Booster club supports the DHS Shooting Club. The Shooting Club is a a club sport at the high school level which involves clay pigeon shooting. There are five different disciplines in clay shooting: skeet, trap, clay pigeon, sporting clays and Olympic style, also knows as Bunker. The Club will primarily shoot trap, with an occasional skeet and sporting clay event. All of the coaches are NRA certified instructors and safety is the number one priority. Students must meet hunter safety regulations and grade requirements.
What makes this sport so great is that it is coed, inclusive, and EVERYONE plays! Women shoot alongside men and compete at the same level. The sport can also accommodate many students with handicaps or disabilities. All students compete individually and as a team. There are also scholarships available from quality universities, the NRA, and CYSSA, some full-ride, which makes clay pigeon shooting fun and a great way to meet future goals.
Our Booster Club provides equipment and entry fees for students who are unable to compete for financial reasons. The annual cost to compete is approximately $1000 per student.
