The PJ Purpose

The PJ Purpose Program is an outreach initiative developed to introduce elementary school students to the world of construction through hands-on activities. Designed to spark curiosity and build early awareness of the construction trades, this program gives students a unique, behind-the-scenes look at how their schools are being built or renovated. By creating safe, engaging learning moments within active construction environments, the PJ Purpose is aimed to support education, promote future career pathways, and strengthen connections between students, schools, and the construction community in the Peoria area.

Equally important, we want students to feel included and informed. With active construction happening right outside their windows, cranes in the air, machines beeping, and tools clanging, it can feel like a mystery or even a disruption. We aim to turn that noise into learning. 

Over the last 2 weeks of school, PJ Hoerr visited classrooms at Wilder-Waite educating the students on construction safety and the basics of our industry. Our activity was centered around the importance of jobsite safety. We're selecting one winner from each class to have their safety poster displayed on our jobsites as a reminder to the construction professionals to always be safe!
