This survey came to fruition on January 21st, 2023 in the #shoot-the-breeze-2 channel in the Dungeons and Daddies Patreon Discord server. Amyg mentioned that there were lots of engineering students who were into the podcast, and some interest in performing a demographics survey for the podcast began to stir. From that moment, it was decided–there would be a community-led survey effort for Dungeons and Daddies. The survey was shared on Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit, Facebook, the Daddies Patreon Discord server, and the Daddies Patreon.
Even beyond community interest, the cast and crew of Daddies have also expressed interest in a similar concept. Freddie Wong had mentioned previously that listenership information creators are given from streaming platforms is limited; it would be beneficial for the cast and crew to know where people listen from and if there was any interest in potential future live events for the podcast. Therefore, questions over topics such as listenership locations, live event interest, and merchandise were included in the survey in the hopes that the information obtained would be useful and applicable for the Daddies cast and crew.

Data organization, TTRPG free response count and organization, live event deeper analyses for cast/crew
Simon is a semi-professional data enthusiast from Louisiana who is happiest when digging into a good (or bad) spreadsheet. He has been working in clinical research for a few years with a BS in Biology and has become the go-to Excel/analysis person in his department due to his deep and abiding love of PivotTables and arcane Excel functions. When he’s not making spreadsheets for work, he’s making them for a podcast about four dads in the Forgotten Realms. Sometimes he plays games, tabletop or otherwise. You can find him as “simonsaysrelax” in the Discord server!

Hailing from Midland, USA, Amyg (pronounced EY-mig) is a full-time university student in the final year of their Bachelor’s in aerospace engineering whilst minoring in English (with emphasis on creative fiction writing). Research and data analysis are necessary evils for engineering; thankfully, for this project, Amyg wasn’t asked to perform structural analysis or aerodynamic force calculations. Since Amyg is often writing or proofreading research papers, they offered to compile the survey document and proofread everything–if you have issues with the formatting, take it up with them. Amyg discovered Dungeons and Daddies in the spring of 2022 after a few fellow podcast enthusiasts encouraged them to listen, and they’ve been hooked ever since. When they’re not studying, attending classes, managing their lab, or banging their head against a wall because of a homework problem that’s taken them six hours to do, Amyg enjoys reading, writing, baking, creating art, spending time with friends, and playing with their cat and dog. Amyg can be found on Twitter (@AmygDa1in) or Tumblr (amygda1in.tumblr.com). In the near future, Amyg hopes to pursue a Master’s in aerodynamics.
Survey creation, Reddit response management, figures/tables, website creation
Raleigh is a complete dweeb of a guy. You’ll often find him in the Dungeons and Daddies Discord as “Science Cheese” or “Old Man Raleigh.” Raleigh found Dungeons and Daddies when suffering through his final semester of college and needing something to listen to while analyzing his research data. He became interested in this community survey project when Damian mentioned it in the Discord server, since he loves creating figures and seeing trends, and was familiar with pathing survey responses in Google Forms. He’s currently a full time chemistry technician and graduated with a Bachelor’s in marine biology back in the spring of 2022. In his freetime, besides doing this survey, Raleigh enjoys singing, doing seed art/crop art (just Google it), playing with his cat Stevie, and nerding out about marine life (BTW, whales are not fish).
Logo creation
Sage is an animation major from Texas currently going to college in Georgia. Brought onto this project after a message from Raleigh about a potential logo, he’s enjoyed seeing the results of the survey and what the rest of the team has brought together! When not stressing out over art school, he’s drawing probably too much fanart for this podcast. You can find him in the discord server (@eldritchdoodler) or on Twitter (@nebsquared).
