A shitty afair.....
We ran into a major grey water drainage problem behind the main building. What initially appeared to be a simple blockage turned into a difficult and dirty excavation and cleaning project. After investigation, we discovered that 25 years of accumulated grease, sludge, and debris had completely clogged sections of the drainage pipes, kitchen grease traps, and inspection registers. We also uncovered a large hidden septic tank that was nearly full of sludge.
So far, resolving the issue has required three workers over ten days. The septic tank was emptied by two vacuum truck loads, while the blocked pipes, traps, and registers had to be manually cleaned by hand and wheelbarrow. The work has been particularly challenging because the entire area is crossed by electrical, network, water, and propane lines, making excavation and access extremely difficult.
The project is not yet complete and will continue after a short break. While significant progress has been made and major blockages have been cleared, additional work is still required to fully restore and optimize the drainage system. In short, this has proven to be a difficult, dirty, and labor-intensive project.
Electrical emergency on our 7000 Volt transformer
Oceanfront presents challenges. Salt air and high-voltage electrical equipment are not a good combination,
We recently experienced a failure at our transformer where corrosion had damaged the main high-voltage connection. To prevent a potentially serious safety issue, including the risk of fire, an emergency repair was carried out early morning . The work involved replacing a section of the 7,000-volt supply line along with the associated high-voltage connectors and hardware.
