Stop-motion is always a hit with students and is now so accessible to anyone with a device as there are so many free or almost free apps that allow students to animate.
Skills
-Frame Rate or Frames Per Second (Cartoons are normally 24fps, but with younger kids I set it at 10).
-Onion Skin allows you to see the previous image, which allows for smoother movements.
-Small movements, a steady camera and a background that does not change unless you want it to will make your animation look so much better.
-Who or what to animate... Toys or clay or drawings or photos or anything that moves and you can control.
Dot and Gulp have nothing to with me, but are a perfect starting point as they are epic, explain how they were made and were both shot on a smart phone .
