I am a Senior R&D Metamaterials Engineer working for Meta Materials Europe (part of Meta Materials Inc.), developing metamaterials and metamaterial-inspired technologies for industrial applications such as reconfigurable metasurfaces and biomedical sensing/imaging. Between 2019 t o2022 I was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Engheta group, University of Pennsylvania, working on several projects revolving around disruptive concepts in advanced electromagnetics, complex media-metamaterials, and disruptive concepts for next-generation wave-matter interactions. I worked on several prestigious projects, e.g., the AFOSR MURI-Attojoule Nano-optoelectronics, the Simons Collaboration on Extreme Wave Phenomena Based on Symmetries, the MRSEC Research at Penn, and the AFOSR MURI - Meta Imaging project.

I received my Doctorate (D.Sc) degree (Ph.D. equivalent) in "Electromagnetic and Circuit Theory" with honors from the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering, Aalto University, in April 2019. I had the luck to do my doctorate work with prof. Ari Sihvola (advisor) and Dr. Pasi Ylä-Oijala (instructor).   During my thesis, I was closely collaborating with prof. Tapio Ala-Nissila (Department of Applied Physics, Aalto Univerity and Loughborough University), while I delved into the electromagnetic/applied mathematics pedagogy next to prof. Ari Sihvola, prof. Keijo Nikoskinen, prof. Constantin Simovksi, and University Lecturer Jari Holopainen. After my thesis defense, I had a brief appointment as a postdoctoral researcher in the group of prof. Sergei Tretyakov worked briefly for the VISOSURF EU project, developing and simulating metasurfaces with reconfigurable features.

My "Resonant Scattering Particles" thesis was honored with one of the "Best thesis awards for 2019" by the School of Electrical Engineering, Aalto Univerity, and is publicly available at this link.

My primary expertise is in EM-wave physics, RF and antenna engineering, plasmonics, metamaterials, metasurfaces, and applied mathematics.  My interests also include EM teaching and EM pedagogical research.  I am an active member of the optical (OSA), engineering (IEEE), and radio science (URSI) communities. I currently serve as an elected Chair (2021-2023) for the Photonics Metamaterials Technical Group of OPTICA (formerly OSA) and an elected Early Career Representative (ECR) for Commission B - Fields and Waves of URSI. I served as a Secretary for the IEEE APS/MTT/ED Finnish Chapter (Chair: prof. Katsuyuki Haneda).

I am serving as a reviewer for the following

Journal and scientific societies

International research Organizations

I have also been a freelance performer and musician in various small groups and orchestras in Greece and Finland. In my free time, I enjoy cooking and banter with friends, music listening and playing, and learning about History, History of Science, and Philosophy of Science. I am an active volunteer in professional and communal organizations.
