PROCEDURE: The patient was given the sedation. A hard stop was performed to identify the patient and the procedure to be done. Once this was confirmed and when the patient was comfortable, the gastroscope was placed in the oropharynx and advanced down the esophagus. The scope was passed down without any trouble to the second portion of the duodenum.
The cardia, body and antrum of the stomach were visualized. The scope as advanced all the way to the second portion of the duodenum.
Next, the scope was backed out into the antrum. The scope was then retroflexed to evaluate the upper stomach and GE junction
At the end of the procedure, the gas was removed from the stomach prior to the removal of the scope.
The patient overall tolerated the procedure well, and was transferred to the recovery room in stable and satisfactory condition.
