P.01.1 - Uniform Policies
P.01.1.1 - When active or on duty Units must be in uniform
P.01.1.2 - Uniforms are to be kept clean and presentable
P.01.1.3 - Units are to have little to no facial hair
P.01.1.3.1 - Units that have facial hair it must be well groomed and not touching the collar
P.01.1.4 - Units are permitted to have Tattoos but no Vulgar or Obscene tattoos are to be visible
P.01.1.5 - Certain Units are authorized to Work out of Uniform based on Assignment
P.01.1.6 - Formal / Class A
P.01.1.6.1 - Class A Formal Uniforms includes Issued Long Sleeve Shirt with a Tie, Units are to wear Issued Slacks and Black Dress Shoes, and Campaign Hat if Required
P.01.1.6.1.1 - Class A Formal does not Warrant a Vest or Duty Belt unless Authorized
P.01.1.6.1.2 - Campaign Hats are only Worn in Class A Formal
P.01.1.6.2 - Class A Non Formal includes Issued Long Sleeve Shirt without Tie, Units are to wear Issued Slacks and Black Tennis Shoes
P.01.1.6.2.1 - Class A Non Formal is to include Duty Belt
P.01.1.7 - Class B Uniform
P.01.1.7.1 - Class B Uniform includes Issued Short Sleeve Shirt, Units are to wear Issued Slack or Tactical Pants if Approved and Black Tennis Shoes.
P.01.1.7.2 - Class B is to include Duty Belt
P.01.1.7.3 - Class B Head Gear is Approved Ball Caps Only
P.01.2 - Social Media
P.01.2.1 - Los Santos County Sheriff’s Office allows its Units to own or use social media accounts
P.01.2.1.1 - Units are not permitted to use or post daily activities of the Sheriff’s Office or Duties while on or off shift.
P.01.3 - Ethics
P.01.3.1 - Units that work with or for the Sheriff's Office must have good ethics and work ethic, Units are expected to perform their duties without issues or remarks.
P.01.3.2 - Units that are found working with bad ethics can be punished.
P.01.4 - Use of Force
P.01.4.1 - Employees of the Sheriffs Office are expected to follow the strict use of force continuum, failure to do so can result in suspension up to termination
P.01.5 - Vigilance
P.01.5.1 - Units are to remain professional and aware of their surroundings at all times
P.01.5.2 - Units that are found being non Vigilant (Resting On-duty) are subjected to punishment
P.01.6 - Equality
P.01.6 - Units are to view all members of the community and public as equal, racism or other bias remarks about one's Gender, Sexuality, Religion, Impairments and Skin Tone is Highly Discouraged and will result in punishment or up to termination
P.01.7 - Traffic Stops
P.01.7.1 - Traffic Stops must be lawful and must have a primary offense to be initiated
P.01.7.2 - Units must have Probable Cause to Stop a Vehicle
P.01.7.3 - Secondary Offenses citations can be issued if the Unit is performing a Legal stop
P.01.7.4 - PACE Units can stop for secondary violations
P.01.7.5 - Traffic Stops must be performed by a Uniformed Officer/Deputy
P.01.7.5.1 - Non Uniformed Officers can Initiate a Traffic Stop but request a Marked/ Uniformed Unit.
P.01.7.6 - Felony Stops
P.01.7.6.1 - Felony Stops are to be performed with extreme precaution and with no less than three units.
P.01.7.6.2 - Units performing a Felony Stop must be Wearing a AAA Vest or Higher Grade
P.01.8 - Pursuits
P.01.8.1 - Pursuits can be initiated at Officer Discretion, but has to be approved by a Field Supervisor or Higher
P.01.8.1.2 - If a Pursuit is initiated and the commanding Supervisor denies the pursuit, the pursuing Units must terminate the Pursuit.
P.01.8.1.2.1 - Failure to do so can result in punishment up to termination
P.01.8.2 - The initiating Unit must be primary in the pursuit
P.01.8.2.1 - If the initiating Unit is unable to keep up, or perform a pursuit intervention technique then a secondary unit can take primary.
P.01.8.3 - When in an active pursuit Units involved are not to be closer than five car lengths of each other.
P.01.8.4 - Pursuits entering the City limits of Los Santos that are moving at 75+ MPH are to be terminated
P.01.8.4.1 - Pursuits that are taking place on the Freeways are exempt to P.01.8.4
P.01.8.4.2 - If Highway Patrol is in a Pursuit and request Aid units that are Dispatched will be exempt to P.01.8.4
P.01.8.5 - PIT
P.01.8.5.1 - When Performing a PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) the primary unit must PIT away from building, cars, and pedestrians
P.01.8.5.2 - PIT’s can not be performed in residentials, at speeds greater than 40 MPH, and when the weather conditions are not suitable
P.01.8.5.3 - All PIT’s must be approved by a Supervisor before executing
P.01.9 - Citizens Rights
P.01.9.1 - Units are to acknowledge that everyone is equal and that their rights matter
P.01.9.2 - Citizens have the right to request a Supervisor when they believe their rights have been violated
P.01.9.2.1 - If a Supervisor is not available the Citizen is to be notified that no Supervisor is available and that they can always file a complaint with the Sheriff’s Office at LosSantosCountyLaw.com/Resources/HumanResources/Complaints
P.01.9.2.2 - If the Complainant is Currently in custody and is suspected of a crime and believes their rights are being violated, Call for a Supervisor or the next Higher up.
P.01.9.3 - Units are to Know and Understand the Fourth Amendment
P.01.9.4 - Units are Required to call for a Unit of the Same Gender or a Supervisor when needing to perform a Pat Down of a Suspect
P.01.9.5 - Citizens that request information of a situation that they are not involved with are encouraged to fill out a Release Information Request form at

Deputies/Units are not required to release any information on a active scene
(The Uniformed Patrol Unit is the most highly visible component of the department. Working 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Patrol Unit represents the bulk of the department’s staffing.)
P.02.1 - Procedures of Uniformed Patrol
P.02.1.1 - Execute the law enforcement responsibilities of the department through preventive patrol and active enforcement of criminal and traffic laws
P.02.1.2 - Perform a variety of diverse services for the County, including enforcement, general assistance, emergency assistance, public information and directions, alleviating public hazards
P.02.1.3 - Responding to emergency calls, assisting in serving warrants and providing aid to other agencies in the Jurisdiction
P.02.2 - Policies of Uniformed Patrol
P.02.2.1 - The Uniformed Patrol Unit, main objective is to respond to service calls issued by dispatch, while providing assistance to the community.
P.02.2.1.1 - Uniformed Patrol is to Prioritize calls issues by dispatch over personal calls, and possible traffic violations or stops.
P.02.2.1.2 - Units may choose to leave a scene if the scene is near completion if a code 99 (Officer in distress) call drops in the immediate area.
P.02.2.1.3 - Units may not leave active calls that are new and of Priority 1 Status unless authorized by Dispatch.
P.02.2.2 - Units that are on an active scene or shown as Signal 6 (10-6 Busy) can not leave the scene without the consent of an active supervisor or another Unit taking command of the scene
P.02.2.2.1 - Units that are near completion of their shift must finish the call they are assigned to before leaving or going Signal 7 (10-7 Out of Service)
(Special Operations Unit is made up of multiple departments of the Sheriff's Office. These Departments include Narcotics, Pace, Marine, Animal Control, Bailiff, Warrant Services, Civil Services)
P.03.1 - Procedures of Special Operations
P.03.1.1 - Execute the law enforcement responsibilities of the department through active patrol and Special assigned projects.
P.03.1.2 - Special Assignments
P.03.1.2.1 - Units assigned to the SOU (Special Operations Unit) are assigned certain roles and given different policies and directives.
P.03.1.2 - Narcotics
P.03.1.2.1 - Narcotics, main objective is to conduct investigations of individuals and organizations involved in narcotics trafficking, narcotics smuggling, and money laundering. Narcotics also consist of the K9 Unit
P.03.1.3 - Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT)
P.03.1.3.1 - Criminal Apprehension Team, is strictly proactive
P.03.1.3.2 - These Units actively patrol looking for traffic violations, and other crimes in progress in an effort to deter and detect criminal activity, they also are a group of selected members that Deliver Warrants to households of wanted suspects. These groups normally consist of 3 or more members; these members can be from any Unit of the Sheriff’s Office
P.03.1.4 - Marine
P.03.1.4.1 - Marine Units, are to maintain the safety of the public waterways and shorelines.
P.03.2 - Policies of Special Operations
P.03.2.1 - These Units are still active members of Law Enforcement and may be asked to assist the Uniformed Patrol Units
P.03.2.2 - Narcotics
P.03.2.2.1 - These Units are to identify, investigate, and arrest and assist in the prosecution of persons and organizations involved in narcotics trafficking and smuggling, while not violating the Suspects fourth amendment
P.03.2.3 - Criminal Apprehension Team
P.03.2.3.1 - Criminal Apprehension Team Units are active Patrol Units that do not respond to Dispatched calls unless necessary.
P.03.2.4 - Marine
P.03.2.4.1 - Marine Units are responsible for responding to service calls, emergency calls and accidents on the public waterways of Los Santos
P.03.2.4.2 - When not on an active service call Marine units are to Patrol the Shorelines and Waterways for safety violations, boating violations.
P.03.2.5. - Warrant Services
P.03.2.5.1 - Units Assigned to the Warrant Service are in-charge of Serving Warrants, Summons and Extradite Suspects to and from other Agencies outside of the Jurisdictions.
P.03.2.5.2 - Warrant Service is responsible for ensuring all paperwork is correct and that they have performed proper research before attempting to serve a Warrant.
P.03.2.5.3 - When Serving a High Risk Warrant, Warrant Services is to have SWAT accompany them to the Address for the Arrest.
P.04.2 - CID Policies
P.04.2.1 - Units Assigned to the CID, are to await for assignment from Sergeant or Higher
P.04.2.2 - When Assigned to a New Investigation, Units are to meet with Witnesses, Victims, all Law Enforcement Personnel involved and Gather evidence
P.04.2.3 - After evidence is collected a in-depth investigation will begin with the Unit interviewing Victims and Suspects
P.04.2.4 - Once enough evidence built for a case or enough evidence is provided to have a Warrant, Search or Arrest the Unit must then contact a Judge or Magistrate
P.04.2.5 - If the Warrant is Approved the Unit is to Contact the Criminal Apprehension Team and Begin the Process of executing the Warrant.
Policies are Subjected to Change and It is the Deputies duty to stay informed and up to date
