Los Santos County Sheriffs Office became Canine Certified in 1994 with our first ever K9; Rosso joining our team. Rosso was considered a game changer for the department and the war on drugs that at the time flooded Los Santos. In 2004 the Department became determined to move all Canine Units to larger vehicles with heavy lighting for both the Deputies and the Publics safety.
In 2015 LSCSO became an accredited agency with the Florida Department of Public Safety, and with this new Changes came to the Canine Division. All Handlers are now certified professional canine experts, each deputy is sent to the Virginia K9 School and trained. As of 2016 the Department has 24 Canines and 26 Handlers, and most Units are issued a 2018 Chevy Tahoe.
In 2003 Frank and Rosso was on a traffic stop when a Intoxicated Driver struck them with their vehicle on the side of I-15 North, The accident Fatally wounded both Rosso and Frank.
