While traditional sentence diagramming provided clarity by making abstract grammar rules visible, critics argue that these isolated, mechanical drills do not effectively improve student writing. To bridge the gap between discarding grammar and returning to outdated methods, educators can use artificial intelligence to generate personalized, immediate visual diagrams of students' own sentences. This modernized approach serves as a valuable scaffold, particularly for English learners, by allowing them to visualize language structures, test revisions, and engage in meaningful reflections on how grammar shapes meaning.
