At the end of this course, students will be able to:
Apply theoretical and practical knowledge within the everyday operations of a kinesiology and sport context (I.e., business, non-profit, and more).
Demonstrate a growing and deep understanding of the realities of everyday life in a kinesiology and sport context.
Determine the students' place in their internship context, the field in general, and make plans for future career and life experiences.
At the end of each week, students complete a weekly log of the hours they worked that week, the activities they completed, and a short reflection on those activities. Every other week, they are asked to make connections between your internship experiences and material introduced to them in other kinesiology and sport studies courses.
Becoming Intern Quiz: This quiz aims to help prepare you for the transition from student-scholar to practitioner-scholar, particularly in terms of workplace professionalism and care of the self.
Information Sheet Survey: This is a short survey that allows me to get to know you a bit and account for any learning needs or preferences you have.
Exit survey: This survey is designed to gather your feedback on your internship site, the site supervisor, and this course. It's also designed to help you reflect on your career path of interest.
The purpose of this assignment is to gather feedback from the students site supervisor on their performance during the internship. The survey is sent to the supervisor in week 5 and 10. Their feedback is factored into the students grade.
The purpose of this assignment is for students to create an original project that demonstrates competencies they developed throughout their internship experience. The term "project" is intentionally left open-ended to allow for flexibility and creativity.
Students are supported in the development of their project via two one-on-one meetings with myself throughout the quarter.
Student X created a media guide for the professional breakdancing organization she interned at.
Student A created a presentation on confidence that he could deliver to student athletes. This includes a well-designed PowerPoint and a detailed lesson plan with activities and learning outcomes.

Student C created a plan of care for a client with a lumbar fusion surgery. She outlined the client profile, goals for treatment, exercises used to target goals, and modifications to facilitate progression or regression.
Student D hosted two presentations at her non-profit on Awe Walks. During the presentations, she explained what awe walks are, the benefits or them, and led the members through awe walks together.
Student F created a business plan for a company she would like to start one day. The organization would provide hockey and figures skaters with a blend of on-ice skill coaching and strength and conditioning coaching.
